Bandits Upset Slammers and Finish 2nd In Bama Bash
The Alabama Bandits bounced back from a less than stellar performance in Villa Rica, GA a couple weeks earlier to finish second in the Bama Bandits' Bash.
On Friday, May 31st, the 1st game of pool play, the Bandits defeated the Mountain Brook Spartans 6-4. The Bandits split in Saturday action, losing to the Alabama Yard Dogs 5-1 but recovered to defeat the North Alabama Giants 7-5. The final pool play game vs. the Huntsville Hawks went the Bandits way 21-0.
In the championship round, the Bandits pulled an upset of sorts by eliminating the tournament favorite Alabama Slammers 7-5. The Bandits weren't able to carry that good fortune to the championship game as they fell to the Alabama Yard Dogs 7-2.
Bandits Finish 2nd
In USSSA State Championship!
The Alabama Bandits finished 2nd in a field of 16 teams in the USSSA 13U State tournament played in Hoover, AL.
The Bandits combined pool play and bracket record was 4-1-1. In pool play the Bandits defeated the Huntsville Express 11-4 and tied the Vestavia Rebels 8-8.
In the first round of the single elimination bracket, the Bandits defeated the North Alabama Giants 7-5, then defeated the Hoover Bucs 13-5 in the second round. The Bandits defeated the Alabama Yard Dogs 2-1 in the semi-final game and lost to the Alabama Slammers 12-1 in the championship game.
The Bandits will be in action next in the Dizzy Dean Baseball AA Select World Series in East Ridge Tennesse.
