BHS Wrestling in National Record book
It turned out to be a special evening at the third annual BHS wrestling "Pack the House" night on Thursday, Dec. 6, in the BHS gymnasium in a home double-dual against Holton and Perry-Lecompton, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The Baldwin wrestlers accomplished a rare feat by recording a "perfect score" against Perry-Lecompton winning 84-0. Baldwin recorded eight falls and had six forfeits to score the maximum amount of points possible in a dual.
Baldwin earned a spot in the National Federation High School record books with the accomplishment. BHS becomes only the 11th team to have accomplished the feat (since the 14th weight class was added in 1994) , and only the second in Kansas. Basehor-Linwood did it in 2000 against Immaculata. As far as perfect scores before the 14 weight classes, only one other Kansas school has accomplished the feat, ACCHS-Effingham in 1981.
Baldwin also got sweet revenge on the Holton Wildcats. Holton defeated BHS 41-33 last year, but this year it was a Bulldog domination as the mighty 'Dogs dominated their way to a 62-6 win. Baldwin only lost two matches, both in overtime.
Baldwin wrestlers undefeated on the evening were Joe Bonner, Josh Kohn, Wayne Sage, Sam Hinton, Nathan Deel, Steve Hamilton, Matt Gammon, Derek Lang, Chris Hirschmann, Adam Halford, Kyle Flory, Dan Hamilton, and Witt Hinton.
Baldwin is now 5-0 in "Pack the House" duals.
