Mason, Callahan win 4 golds in Dallas
Baldwin youth wrestlers Gabe Mason and Kevin Callahan dominated their weight divisions at the Southern Plains Regional Championships in Dallas, Texas. The two went a combined 10-0, with all matches ending in a fall or technical fall. Each wrestler had a 5-0 record and won gold medals in both freestyle and greco-roman competition.
The tournament consisted of teams from the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Missouri, and Arkansas.
The two were coached by 12 of the top coaches from around the state of Kansas, including three current NCAA Division I wrestlers who were all Kansas High School 4x state champions (Bo Maynes-Univ. of Oklahoma and Salina South HS, Dusty Spaulding-Univ. of Nebraska and Emporia HS, Billy Gabel-Oklahoma State Univ. and St. Francis HS).
Callahan is currently training for the Kids National FS/GR Championships in Fresno, California, in July.
