Three Baldwin wrestlers place at Kids State
Three of the six state qualifiers placed at the Kids State Tournament at the Topeka Expocenter on Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25. The three placewinners were Kyle Flory (2nd place), Gabe Mason (3rd place), and Kevin Callahan (5th place).
Flory (14/under, 165 lbs.) was seconds away from becoming Baldwin's first kids wrestling state champion ever. Flory went 3-1 in the tournament and became only the second Baldwin kids wrestling state finalist ever. It is Flory's third kids state plaque as he has finished 5th, 5th, and 2nd.
Mason (10/under, 110 lbs.) went 4-1 to place third. It is Mason's second kids state plaque as he finished 4th two years ago.
Callahan (12/under, 100 lbs.) had a 3-2 record in the tournament to finish 5th place to go along with his 5th place finish two years ago.
Also competing at state were Adam Halford (16/under, 155 lbs.), Nathan Deel (16/under, 120 lbs.), and Joe Brown (16/under, 150 lbs.). Halford went 2-2 and came one match from placing. Deel and Brown each went 1-2 and were two matches from placing.
