==SHOEMAKER 1st, HANSON 2nd at HARRISONVILLE
It was a very tough challenge for the Bulldogs heading into the Christmas break, competing in the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament.  Each Bulldog wrestler got between 7-8 matches in the two days, competing on seven mats against teams from Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Freshman Bryce Shoemaker once again led the way, going 7-o to win his third gold medal this season.  While Shoemaker dominated his way through the early part of the tournament, recording five straight falls, he had some close wins in the final rounds.  In the semis against Nevada's Stiles Slade, Shoemaker had the match under control with a 7-3 lead, but Slade scored a five-point counter to go ahead 8-7.  Shoemaker scored a third-period reversal to go up by one, and he held on for the win.  In the finals, Shoemaker took on Seneca's Blake Byrne in the finals.  Tied 3-3 with about a minute remaining, Shoemaker scored a two-point takedown and rode Byrne out to earn a 5-3 victory.

Senior Josh Hanson was Baldwin's other big placer.  Hanson also dominated his way through the tournament, his closest match being a 10-4 win over a wrestler from Sparta, Wisconsin.  Hanson even recorded an impressive 15-0 technical fall in the semi-finals.  But in the finals, Hanson ran into a two-time Missouri state champion and lost by fall.  Hanson did, however, make his mark in the history books of Baldwin wrestling, as he moved onto the school's all-time wins list with 100 career wins, tying coach Kit Harris for tenth place, with plenty of time to climb the ranks even more.  CONGRATS JOSH, this is a tribute to years of consistent hard work and dedication!

Also making the placing bracket were sophomore Colton Bonner (6th place at 215 lbs.), sophomore Cody Sellers (8th place at 119 lbs.), and junior Adam Christian (8th place at 189 lbs.).

Baldwin had plenty of other great performances, as every wrestler won at least one match, and all had great performances throughout the very tough two days.

Scoring four wins were freshman Cameron Christian (112 lbs.), Sellers (119 lbs.), junior Colby Soden (125 lbs.), Bonner (215 lbs.), and junior Jesse Austin (285 lbs.).  Winning three matches were juniors Keenan Coffey and A. Christian, both at 189 lbs.  Freshman Carter Sudja (130 lbs.) won two matches, and freshman Colton Horne (145 lbs.) won one match.  Junior Greg Schiffelbein (140 lbs.) won one match, then had to withdraw due to sickness.

Also, special congrats to Colton Horne and Carter Sudja for earning their first varsity win, each by fall!

This team performance is GREATLY improved from last year's BHS results in this tough tournament.  Good job Bulldogs!

Baldwin finished in 14th out of 24 teams.
