Three Baldwin youth wrestlers earn ALL-AMERICAN
Three Baldwin youth wrestlers competed in the USA Wrestling Kids National Folkstyle Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Bryce Shoemaker won four straight matches to earn a spot in the finals. He lost his bid for a national championship and finished as the runner-up. Shoemaker was in the Midget, 60-pound division. Shoemaker is a two-time state placer, finishing first and fifth. This is his first time winning All-American. Shoemaker is a fourth-grader at BES-IC.
Jack Mitchell went 4-2 to win fifth-place All-American honors. He won three straight decisions to earn a spot in the semi-finals, before two losses put him in the fifth-place match, where he won to finish 4-2 on the day. Mitchell is a two-time state placer, finishing fourth and sixth. This is his first time placing as an All-American. Mitchell is a fourth-grader at BES-IC.
Alan Callahan competed in the Schoolboy, 100-pound bracket. He lost his first round match to the top seed from Colorado by a 2-1 score. He then won four straight matches to get into the placing round. He finished in fifth place with a 5-2 record. It is Callhan's first All-American finish. Callahan is a two-time Kids State placer finishing third and third. He is an eighth grader at BJHS.
