Seniors selected for All-Star duals
Seniors Kyle Flory and Derek Lang have both been selected for senior all-star duals as a tribute to their successes this season.
Flory was able to end his high school wrestling career with a win, taking a 5-2 decision over Emporia's John Kosko for the 18th Annual Kansas Senior Classic all-star dual held at the Topeka Expocenter. Fellow senior standout Lang also was selected for the event, but dropped a 4-2 overtime decision to Oberlin's Chance Harmon.
The only other BHS wrestler ever selected for the event was Witt Hinton in 2002. Hinton won a 9-7 OT match at that event.
The two were also the second and third Baldwin wrestlers ever selected for the 12th Annual Kansas vs. Missouri "Metro Classic" senior all-star dual held at Kansas City Community College recently. They also have been selected to compete in the annual Kansas Senior Classic all-star dual to be held in the Topeka Expocenter on Friday, March 26.
Based on their outstanding four-year careers, Lang and Flory represented Team Kansas in the Metro dual.
Lang fell to Missouri's Blake Peterson by a 14-2 score. Peterson, from St. Joe Central, was 49-0 and a Missouri state champion and is headed to NCAA Div. I Northern Iowa next year as a pre-med major.
Flory lost a 9-3 match to Kearney's Robert Shadrach, who placed 6th, 1st, and 3rd in the Missouri state tourney.
Missouri defeated Kansas in the dual by a 50-7 margin and now own a 8-4 all-time lead in the dual.
Proceeds from the dual go to the wrestling programs at Fort Hays State and Central Missouri State University.
Luke Lang was the first ever Bulldog selected for the event in 2000.
