New York Bad Apples Win The ASA 18U "A" Eastern Nationals

The New York Bad Apples won the 18U ASA “A” Eastern Nationals in York Pennsylvania today. The Apples were undefeated in the tournament. The Apples won their first game Sunday against The Virginia Scrappers 9-1The battery of Kate Price and Leah Porter prove to be tuff with 8 strike outs, 3 hits and no walks. Jessie Winas was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI’s and Siera Sheehan capped off the victory with a 3 run homer in the 7th inning. The winner bracket final against New Jersey Rocks was a huge win for the Apples 10-3. This secured the team to be qualified for the 2008 ASA 18U “A” Nationals to be held in Moline Illinois.Sierra Sheehan pitched having 5 strike outs, 1 walk and 6 hits. Nikki Siedhof was 3 for 3 with 2 walks. Jessie Winas, Brianna King, Stephanie Harquist, and Natalie Siedhof each had 2 hits.  The final championship game was between The New York Bad Apples and  The New Jersey Rocks. The New York Bad Apples won 2-1 in 8 innings. Kate Price started the first 4 innings with Siera Sheehan pitching the last 4 innings. The Apples scored their first run in the top of the 2nd inning. Rachael Jones hit a base hit to left cener then stole 2nd Jessie Winas hit a single to left center to score Jones. The NJ Rocks tied the game up in the bottom of the second scoring their only run. In the top of the 8th inning with the international tie breaker rule Dee Kermidas started on 2nd base, Nikki Siedhof bunted for a base hit. With runners on 1st and 3rd Stephanie Harquist hit a sacrifice to left center to score Kermidas. The Rocks had the last at bats. With their runner on 2nd the next batter bunted to move the runner to 3rd. With one out Siera Sheehan struck out the side to end the inning. The Apples record for the season was 35-14.
