Dear Baseball Player,
Some comments about this team. It's important when you are on a baseball team like this one, that you understand the importance of being a good teammate. Know your teammates by their names (first and last). Know each other’s Moms, Dads, brothers, and sisters and say hello to them. Be polite. Be a good teammate!
Always carry yourself like a ball player. Be confident! Don’t complain! Each kid will have the opportunity to compete for every position on the field. Always HUSTLE!! Don’t cry when you strike out. It happens to everyone. Have respect for the other team. Remember to say thank you! Thank your parents, coaches, umpires, anyone who helps you become a better player. Keep the field clean, pick up any trash after the game or practice and put it in the garbage. None of this is hard and it makes us better players and better people. ALSO, REMEMBER THIS SAYING: TO BE EARLY IS TO BE ON TIME, TO BE ON TIME IS TO BE LATE, TO BE LATE IS TO BE FORGOTTEN!! Call the coaches with any time problems!
No fighting!! Never argue with the umps.
When a coach is talking make sure you are listening. After the game, we shake hands with the other team and tell them good game.
We need to learn how to play each position on the field. Knowledge is power, the more you know, the more you can do! This is very applicable to baseball. Fundamentals are so important, and we will review those every practice.
Finally, just a quick note to parents seeking to have their kids play on our team. Little league baseball should be fun. It's important that every kid seek his own level of play. This level of play isn't for everyone (parents included). For the kids to play at this level requires a little more practice than they may get at a more recreational level. In order to make plays at this level both hitting and fielding requires hard work and dedication from both the player and the parents. This team will win games as we begin to understand the fundementals of baseball and as our work on the practice field begins to translate onto the playing field. HAVE FUN!
