ARIZONA GIRL’S LACROSSE IN 2009

Youth, High School, Post-Collegiate, and more…

Lacrosse in Arizona is growing in leaps and bounds. It’s a game of finesse and skill.  You play with a small, yellow, rubber ball and it is passed from stick to stick to get up and down the field and into the goal.  It’s called the “fastest game on two feet.”  Lacrosse uses a combination of skills that are similar to other sports like soccer and basketball, just to name a few.  There are several different positions depending on how much you want to run or don’t want to run-ha ha!!  If you’d like to learn more about the rules and what exactly this game is all about please visit the tab Lacrosse FAQ and Rules on this website.

High School Fall Ball

Fall Ball Lacrosse is a program for all girls 8th-12th grade (beginners welcome).  2009 session begins September 26th-November 21st on Saturdays at the Scottsdale Sports Complex. See the "Fall Ball" tab for more detailed directions and ON-LINE registration.  .

HIGH SCHOOL

In 2008-2009 we had six Division 1 High School Girls Club teams:  Chaparral, Corona Del Sol, Desert Mountain, Gilbert, Horizon and Pinnacle. Seven Division 2 teams: Desert Vista, Dobson, Mountain Pointe, Notre Dame, PCDS, Tucson and Xavier and eight JV teams including Chaparral, Corona Del SOl, Gilbert Horizon Gold, Horizon Green, Pinnacle Blue, Pinnacle White and Xavier. If you didn’t get a chance to see these girls in action, you are in for a treat once you do.  The high school season typically runs January-April with regular season games starting mid-February.

A big congratulation goes out to Pinnacle for being 2008-2009 Division 1 State Champs and to Xavier as the Division 2 State Champs.  Also, congratulations to Laura Eckhardt (Chaparral) and Madison Pohle (Chaparral) for being named 2008-2009 All-Americans and Jenni Littleton (Pinnacle) and Katie Stemm (Pinnacle), All-American Honorable Mentions.  A congratulations also goes out to the following Arizona players who were Academic All-Americans for the 2009 season Madison Pohle, Laura Eckhardt, Drew Kuperman, Lauren Silber, Hilary Novatt all from Chaparral HS, Ali Lauer, Andie Martin from Horizon HS, Lauren Littleton, Jenni Littleton, Amy Lindsey, Katie Stemm, Liz Ritter from Pinnacle HS and Kayla Hirst, Maggie Benson from Desert Mountain HS. You can visit the US LACROSSE website for complete lists and more info.

Southwest HEAT is an Arizona elite high school team put together to play at the National Tournament in Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend each year.  2009 was the 4th year we have taken a team and it was obvious we have come so far because we stood up to the best of ‘em!  We were even lucky enough to see the Division 1 Women’s College Lacrosse Championships play too.  Thanks to all the players, parents, coaches, and sponsors that made this possible!  Tryout dates for 2010's team and more info will be posted under the "AZ Heat" tab.

 Post-Collegiate Lacrosse

AZ STORM is Arizona’s one and only post-collegiate team.  We are always looking for more players so if you just graduated and are not playing in college, haven’t played in awhile, or know someone that just moved here that used to play…send them over.  We are a very laid back group and typically practice/play pick-up games on Sundays at Mountain View Park in Scottsdale.  We also go to several tournaments over the year.  Call Jessica at 602-315-4481 if interested.

Looking for High School/College aged girl coaches and Refs for upcoming Desert StiX sessions that run in three sessions, Fall, Winter and Spring.

 Game Breaker Lacrosse Camps
Stay tuned for upcoming Game Breaker Lacrosse clinics. Plan on a cool summer clinic in Flagstaff at NAU coming in June of 08. These off season clinics are designed to help maintain and improve your lacrosse skills and prepare you for the lacrosse season. We will focus mainly on individual skills such as stick work, ground balls, shooting, and one on one defense. The drills and games will allow you to learn, have fun, and get you better prepared for your game. We want the younger players to come away with a better understanding of the fundamentals and we want the more experienced players to build on the what they already know.
See more info in the "Clinics and Camps" section or click on the link or call 1-800-944-7112 to learn more. Stay tuned for upcoming Game Breaker camp dates.

4th Annual AGLA Play Day weekend scheduled for February 9th and 10th, 2009 at Cochise Elementary in Scottsdale.
