As our journey begins

Welcome to the home of AZ Fusion.

Az Fusion is  Special Olympic athletes and their partners FUSING together to compete at the Special Olympic Summer National Games June 2014 in Princeton New Jersey.

AZ Fusion is a group of young adults that compete as a Unified Special Olympics Volleyball team. Our athletes participate in a variety of Special Olympic sports. Many of them have competed in swimming, track, volleyball, softball, bowling and even cheer. Our partners are currently in their Junior or Senior year in High School. We have partners from Centennial, Liberty and Sunrise HS.

If you are unfamiliar with what the unified program is here is a short run down. Team sports bring people together. Special Olympics Unified Sports® teams do that, too and much more. Half a million people worldwide take part in Unified Sports, breaking down stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities in a really fun way. Youth in schools and colleges are getting into Unified Sports through Special Olympics outreach programs. Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences,

Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability, which makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Having sport in common is just one more way that preconceptions and false ideas are swept away. Many say "This will be an experience you'll never forget."
