Little League Baseball for over 60 years has demonstrated to be the pillar of local communities as it relates to the development and character of young people.  District 5 Little League would like to expand on this mission of development and character by supporting our local high schools and the young people that participated in the Little League program during their years of eligibility.

It is the hope of District 5 Little League to provide the support to our local high schools and those individuals that participated in the program, the encouragement towards higher education goals. We are offering to graduating seniors who previously participated in their local Little League baseball and/or softball program a new college scholarship program. District 5 boundary includes all of the high schools north of Speedway to the Pima/Pinal County line.

This is the first year for this program and the District 5 College Scholarship will award two (2) $1,000 scholarships to a graduating senior who participated in the Little League baseball and softball programs. We will announce a winner by May 1, 2009.  The schools of the selected individuals will be notified at this time. 

This first year the funding available for the scholarship is limited to two individuals.  It is our hope that this tradition becomes one where we will be able to offer two scholarships to each member high school within District 5. The individuals selected will be presented at their high school award ceremony and will be asked to be present at a couple District 5 LL functions held in June or July.

Tucson Challenger Little League Scholarship Program 

The Tucson Challenger Little League Scholarship Program is designed to award multiple scholarships. The amount and total number of scholarships offered will vary from year to year based on funds available. A minimum of one scholarship shall be awarded each year. The program will announce the amount and numbers of awards to be distributed in January of each year.

The scholarship selection committee will review all applications and select the recipients. The winners will be notified by mail and recognized by Challenger Little League at the annual Fill the Stands game in May.
