Arizona District Three Little League: District Three News: Manager/Coaches Selections
The nominations for Managers and Coaches to the local league Board of Directors rest soley with the President of the league. It is the ONLY job only the President of the league may make on their own.
The prospective Manager/Coach MUST first complete a Volunteer Application and the President must conduct a background check on the person.
Then, the President will nominate and the Board of Directors will approve. If the President does not nominated a person, the Board may not override the President and approve that person. And, if the President does nominate, but the Board does not approve, then President MAY NOT override the board. In either case, the President NOR the BOARD are obligated in any manner to explain their decison.
Note: NO person has "tenure" in Managing or Coaching. Their term ENDS when the team's last game is played. All mangers/coaches must be nominated and approved by the Board and have a background check EVERY YEAR.
ONLY Managers may be nominated and presented to the Board of Directors BEFORE the draft. Coaches MAY NOT be nominated NOR approved until AFTER the player selections, with ONE exception.
A Coach may be nominated PROVIDED, 1) they have coached in the league at any level for the previous TWO years and; 2) they are returning to the same team. BOTH conditions MUST be met for the Preisdent to nominate a coach.
(Note: If a league is using Plan B, all teams are disbanded at the end of the Regular Season, therefore, there are NO returning players, thus, no returning coaches.)
If a league approves a Coach prior to the draft or if at the draft, it is discovered a manager announces they want a player because of the parent being the coach, is putting their charter in jeopardy.
