Arizona District Three Little League: District Three News: Proof of Age
Question: Can I just show/give the league a copy of my child's Proof of Birth?
Answer: No. The Preisdent of the league must verify the age of every player by looking at the ORGINIAL document. Photocopies are not acceptable. The league will not keep the document. It just needs to be presented. (Note: For players to be certified to play on a tournament team, the ORIGINAL does need to be viewed by the DA. It will be returned after the document has been certified. If an original is not presented, the player will not be certified to play on the tournament team.)
Question: This is the third year I've signed my child up to play. Why do I have to show it every year?
Answer: First, the President is the person responsible to verify the age of a player. The person in that position may change every year, and second, technically, the league is new every year.
Please note that there are only TWO requirements to play in the Little League program. One, they live in the boundaries of the league and, two, they are between the ages of 4 and 18. That is all. The player is signing up to join an organization and must meet those two requirements to be given at least a hat, shirt and assigned to a team.
