City of Goodyear Partners with AYSO 225 to expand VIP Program

AYSO 225 is proud to announce the continuation and expansion of the VIP (Very Important Player) program for the 2008 season.

What is the VIP Program?

One of the AYSO philosophies is "Everyone Plays" - the VIP program makes this promise a reality for players with physical or mental disabilites who would otherwise be stuck on the sidelines in mainstream organized sports.

What are the requirements of a VIP Player?

Players must be at least 4 years old by July 31.  There is no upper age limit!  We have a wide varietyof players - from those with Downs Syndrome and Autism to those with limited mobility in wheelchairs and walkers.

How does VIP soccer differ from mainstream soccer?

VIP players are permitted to use "Buddies" if needed on the soccer field - to push wheelchairs or engage autistic players - as well as to ensure the safety of all participants.  Smaller fields are used with pop-up goals, and the games are small-sided (usually 5v5 or 6v6).  "Referees" are just used to maintain a sense of fair play and safety.  VIP's meet just once a week for skill sessions and games.

How is VIP the same as mainstream soccer?

All players are registered participants of AYSO 225 and receive the same benefits as mainstream players - uniform, soccer accident insurance and end of season award.  Players are formed into teams and compete against other teams after skill sessions on VIP days.  VIP Players want the same thing as all soccer players -- TO HAVE FUN!!

What is the cost for VIP Participants?

Zip. Zero. Nada.  AYSO 225 recognizes the financial strain many special needs families face with medical and care costs.  Because we want to Everyone to Play, the entire VIP program is supplemented by regional funds and by generous donations from sponsors and individuals.  ** If you are interested in being a corporate or individual sponsor, please contact the RC at ayso225@hotmail.com or 623-521-9569 -- All donations are tax deductible and support this great program**

How do I register my player?

See the home page for registration dates and locations, or click on the "Registration" link for more info.  VIP players are registered the same way as mainstream players.

Do you need volunteers?

YES!!!  Just like all our programs, the VIP program is run entirely by volunteers.  We can always use more Buddies for the players as well as coaches.  We want to give the parents a break so they can just sit on the sidelines and cheer on their players, so that requires a lot of help on the field.  We even provide special VIP training for all volunteers!  We have volunteers as young as 10 years old helping out!  WE NEED YOU!

Where can I get more information?

Go to www.soccer.org to learn more about the VIP Program or contact the AYSO 225 VIP Administrator, Gayle Hutchison, at yeema@mac.com or 623-306-5806.
