Equipment Needs League Shirt:
Every participant in AYSL is required to purchase the same gold and blue reversible shirt. This shirt is worn during every game and is used year after year by each participant. The sizes range from an adult XS to XL. When the weather gets cold, layers are suggested, so please remember this when you consider which size to get. Shirts may be purchased during registrations at the Abington Heights Middle School or after registration, by contacting Jim Hatton at 586-9589.
Shingards:
EPYSA's rules state that each participant must wear shingards when involved in soccer, both during games and in practice. These can either be purchased through the league or at local sports stores, such as Soccer Plus in Clarks Summit. It is recommended that shingards, when placed against the shin, fall just below the knee. Shinguards can run between 10 and 30 dollars per pair.
Socks:
Just a few years ago, a new rule of EPYSA was passed. It requires that socks must be worn over and completely covering the shingards. Just like the shingards, socks can be either purchased through the league or at local sports stores. These usually run between 5 and 10 dollars per pair.
Cleats:
It is not required of AYSL participants to wear cleats during play. Sneakers can be worn, as well as soccer cleats. *Note: Baseball or football cleats have an extra cleat on the front tip, that is why they are not allowed.
Shorts/Pants:
There are no requirements for special shorts or pants in AYSL.
