The Avon Youth Basketball Associations (AYBA) mission will be to develop, through fundamentals, basketball players that will be prepared for competition at the Middle School and High School level for Avon athletics. The AYBA will focus on the techniques and fundamentals needed for young men and women to further their basketball skills. The AYBA will register teams and play through the Lake Erie Basketball League. The Lake Erie Basketball League is a competitive travel basketball league in northern Ohio, entering its 9th year. Two teams will be entered in boys grades 4th, 5th, and 6th, and girls grades 4th, 5th, and 6th. All players must have a mailing address in the city of Avon. The AYBA is non-profit and volunteer. The coaches and administrators will gain nothing but the wonderful experience on how to teach kids the game of basketball.
Each team plays 10 regular season games along with a post season tournament. The league emphasizes individual and team fundamentals. To encourage the development of ball handling and court skills, zone defenses are not allowed at the 4th and 5th grade levels. Poor sportsmanship from players, coaches, and spectators will not be tolerated.
