COUGARS SWEEP ENCINAL AND ST. JOES
Once again, we were victorious!! A complete sweep!! Boys Varsity and JVs remain undefeated and Varsity and JV Girls have only one loss! Of particular note: Varsity Boys: Albert and Nolan continue to move closer to our top three and Stuart and Ryan broke the elusive 20 minute mark over the difficult Tilden course. Varsity Girls: Great pack running by Saskia, Brisa, Connie, Siobhan and Molly. Big kudos to Saskia, who rebounded from last week and to Siobhan, for stepping up to fill in for some injured and sick teammates!! Also, great race from Molly at the three mile distance. JV Girls: Nice win from Asia and a faster times than the week before by Katja, Grace and Claire highlighted this win! JV Boys: Corwin wins!! Way to Go!! Also, nice to see Conner and Patrick up there, plus some faster times from Zoli, Rom, Jackie, Juneyoung, Cong, and Julian. Very good to see Cong rebound from sore ankle...you are improving every race!!

Cougar Boys Upset St. Marys!!!
Last week, Albany's Cougars took on highly ranked Div. III competitors--Eureka and Las Lomas (6th in entire state) at the Clovis Invitational. And, they finished as a team ahead of both teams. Today, the Cougars took on BSAL's top ranked team--St. Mary's. And, we were victorious!!! The race started out with St. Mary's sending out a wave of five runners ahead of James and Aidan. They were followed closely by a pack of Cougars, including Albert, Connor, Chris and Nolan. It was difficult at times for our top runners to pass their top runners, but they managed to move up and overtake most of them. Of particular note during this race was the superb efforts by Chris and Nolan. They ran like Cougars possessed!! Way to go boys!! And, Albert ran a nice time, despite stopping to help a little old lady and her ailing dog cross the street!!! Such a good heart, that Albert!!
The girls had the mis-fortune of going up against one of the top Div. 4 teams in the state. Nevertheless, we still managed to beat Kennedy!

COUGARS REMAIN UNDEFEATED!!!
Yes, it is true, we remain undefeated. We did not actually beat Piedmont and Salesian. All three teams were felled by a Red Flag warning. The Piedmont coach had just finished marking the course around 2 pm and he was instructed by the fire officials and rangers that Joaquin Miller Park was off-limits. We had already left on the bus and by the time we arrived, the Piedmont coach was there to tell us the bad news.
The team did manage to find a beautiful trail near Big Trees to run on for about 40-50 minutes...so all was not lost.

Boy was it hot!!! Some nice efforts by our Cougar boys today. If it had been a dual meet, we would have edged out Acalanes and Bishop O'Dowd!!

2009 Farmer Invite
Nice day at the Farmer Invite. Strong performance by many!!
Especially exciting to see James, Chris and Connor earn "medals".
Albert and Stuart also had very strong races on the NCS course.
And, frosh wunderkind, Matthew amazed with a very strong 2 mile race in the frosh/soph race.
For the girls, Eline gutted it out, despite sore knees. And, nice to see Thi-Lan come back after being out most of the week.
Furthermore, Claire and Jessica improved upon their times from the week before.
Saskia, ran a PR, improving on her 25:08 time from last year's NCS meet--nearly a minute improvement!!
And, Connie, ran a strong and steady race--with a strong finish.
Once again...thanks to parents for driving and bringing all that tasty food!!!

Ed Sias Invite
A very nice outing today to Martinez--where we fielded several boys teams and "two" girls teams. After a very hard week of training, including hill repeats only two days ago, we managed to crank out some very fast times. I was very impressed with the efforts of our runners, as well as the support that your provided to your teammates. It was good to see everyone cheering for everyone else!!!
Special thanks to all the parents that drove and brought the good eats and drinks. And thanks to those parents who came, but did not have to drive--due to the fact that a few athletes overslept due to power outages--but, they still managed to get to the meet.
Also can't forget the stunning and inspiring team cheers led by Coach Chuck and Captain Brisa!!!

Stinson Beach--Fun in the Sun!!
What a wonderful day to go to hang-ten at the Beach!!!
Many thanks to the parents of Tim Clopp; James and Kate Pickering; Nolan Tonkyn and Aidan Juengling-Bean for driving everyone over to Stinson. Right now, as I am writing this, it is a sweltering 100+ degrees....and the beach was so nice and cool. Everyone ran up and down the beach for about 4-5 miles, followed by ice baths in the surf and a gourmet meal at the Parkside Cafe.
It has been suggested that we make Stinson Beach our "home" course!!! Wouldn't that be fun!!
I've created the site “Albany High School Cross Country Team Photo Site” as a temporary place to post photos, since the eteamz site is having problems with the photo features. I have posted photos at a shutterfly site--Go to: http://goaxc.shutterfly.com/pictures/17
Please let me know if you can view these photos. The photos posted are smaller files. I do have the large resolution files--if you want to order them--let me know and we can get them for a smaller fee and put some of that toward our fund-rasier account.
