MINOR LEAGUES, FARM TEAMS, & "AA" TEAMS
MINOR LEAGUES, FARM TEAMS, & "AA" TEAMS
In the Austin Area some of the leagues have started, for some time now having "MINOR LEAGUES." That is to say you have farm teams, "A", "AA", & "AAA" teams in your league. Please understand that this is not the concept of PONY BASEBALL. All players in the league should be playing on teams which are members of PONY BASEBALL. The concept of "minor", "farm" or "AA", teams, leading to the separation of the "better" players from those less talented, is not condoned by PONY BASEBALL. Use of "minor" league teams means that plyers of average ability will be left on the bench as substitutes or not able to play at all in the "major", "AAA", or "select" league while players of less ability become starters in the farm league. In addition, players in the farm league do not have the advantage of playingwith better players and learning through association with them. Another danger of the "farm" system: A player is sometimes assigned to the "farm", "minor" or "AA" league on the basis of a brief tryout and the ability of those making such judgments can be questioned.
It has also been noted that some of the leagues have "SELECT" teams. As of NOW Select Teams that do not meet ALL PREREQUISITES of PONY BASEBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS will not be eligible for Tournament Play.
