Coaches:

ATX works hard to hire some the of the best local coaches in the area to work with the teams.  All of the coaches are known not only for the on the field brilliance, but also for thier ability to manage and control groups of young athletes.  We work hard to not only give the players a great experience, but to also keep the kids safe and looked after.  Here are a few of the coaches who will be working with ATX this summer.

Coaches:  Brian Ferry (Westlake MS Coach and ATX MS Program Director) Zac Kurzweil (Anderson Head Coach), Stu Shaw (Anderson Assistant Coach), Matt Malcolm (Westlake DII Head Coach),Harrison Parr (Texas State Player), JJ Jackson (Texas Player and ATX Alumni), Ben King (ATX Alumni),  Will Crossan (Westlake Youth Coach)

Practices:

All teams will practice at St. Stephen's Episcopal School on every Tuesday or Wednesday night in the summer.  Exact times are still TBD.  In addition, we will hold shooting clinics every Wednesday night.  Every Thursday night will be defense clinics.  Practice Policy is that all players will need to attend every team practice.  Clinics are optional but encouraged.    We understand that players will miss practice while on family vacation or at another lacrosse camp, but players are expected to make 75% of practices for our teams to have cohesion.

Tournaments:

Tournament, dates above, is mandatory.   In additional all teams will travel out to Sonoma early, about 1.5 days early, to have team practice.    This will also be mandatory.  We want to make sure that out teams are getting the best possible chance to do well on the field and this will ensure that we have a 24 hours to get the teams more cohesive.

Costs:

ATX will cost $295 to play for the team.  This fee covers uniforms, shorts, tee shirt, socks, fields, coaching, insurance.  In additional, players will need to pay for the tournaments we attend.  The Adrenaline tournaments cost about $500.  Lastly, travel fees will run about $450-$650.  Total cost should be about $1200-$1500.

Philosophy:

ATX has a primary goal of making the Austin Lacrosse community a better one.  We proudly boast that many of the players in the Austin lacrosse scene know each other from ATX teams and trips.  The secondary goal is to see the Austin lacrosse level increase and improve.  By exposing our players to a competitive level of lacrosse, our players return to Austin and compete at a higher level.  The third goal is to put together teams that win games.  While winning is not the primary focus, we play to win and these teams do look for players who want to compete.
