Atwater Little League Baseball and Softball: Welcome Message

Welcome To The Atwater Little League!

D
ear Parents,

We are very excited about the up and coming 2009 baseball season and would like to welcome you to a wonderful organization in your community.   You have chosen to be a part of a highly organized, respected, and very competitive league.
Little League is a world-wide organization that follows very strict guidelines but also offers your child(ren) wonderful opportunities no other league can provide. Rules adopted from Major League Baseball have been adjusted to fit your child’s age and ability. Little League allows your child to play at his/her level and be coached on a real baseball team. They will be playing baseball, not recreational baseball.
Orchestrated by a small group of board members, this nonprofit organization relies heavily on the help, support, and participation of all parents, businesses, and community leaders. We ask that you become involved and be active in all that is a part of what allows this league to remain in our community. This is YOUR league….it can only be what you make of it!
Our pledge to you as a board is to offer fairness of play, a safe environment, respect, trust, and cooperation. We will always try our best to handle things appropriately and according to the rule book. We also ask the same of you.
Some changes this season are as follows:

No Contest Rule-   No one will be allowed to contest the ruling on the field during a game ~ Team Managers will only be able to ask umpires to confer with one another.

Birth Certificates- Last year’s files have been stored away ~ this is for your child’s protection ~ we no longer keep “handy” the information that is required by Little League for your child to play ~ you will be asked to present it again.

Proof of Residency- All players are required to provide a copy of some document that has their address printed on it.  Examples of suitable documents are a parent's drivers license, a parent's voter registration card, and a utility bill.

We look forward to seeing you out at the ball park this season and want to invite you to attend our monthly board meetings ~ the first Wednesday of the month, 7pm at the Atwater Community Center. This is the best time and place to offer constructive criticism, opinions, suggestions, and concerns.

Thank you,
The Atwater Little League Board Members
