2009 Welcome
A-Turf Titans - 2009
Hello Friends –
A-Turf, Inc. is a Western New York based company that specializes in the interesting business of building synthetic athletic fields throughout the USA.
Our success right here in Buffalo and neighboring towns has been exciting on a business level and a personal level as well. I competed in the 1970’s on some of the very fields we have converted to A-Turf.
In recent years, we have had the opportunity to work with some fine local folks as we installed A-Turf at SUNY Buffalo, Amherst Central, All High Stadium, Lewiston Porter, two fields at the Nichols School, and Canisius High School’s West Seneca facility.
Summer 2008 was an extremely busy year as our staff and installation teams met the schedules and expectations of 10 Western New York schools at the collegiate and high school levels. We partnered with Canisius College, Buffalo State College, Niagara University, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, and the following school districts: Orchard Park, Pioneer, Warsaw, Perry, Southwestern and Bolivar.
We’re not done selling in our home town yet! This year Depew H.S. joins the Western New York list, and we’re still meeting with several other local schools for 2010 and beyond.
We’re building many other fields across the country, and are sure to have a very full summer. And many of these fields will be at outstanding baseball facilities. Visit the web site of Diamond Nation (www.jackcustbaseball.com) where six A-Turf fields are being installed this summer. The New Jersey based Diamond Nation tournament is one of the out of town tourneys the A-Turf Titans will be competing in.
Our first installation in the softball / baseball world was the Cheektowaga based Inferno Baseball indoor facility. Since then, we have had the opportunity to install A-Turf at many baseball venues ranging from diamonds in municipal parks to home fields at accomplished high school and Division I baseball programs.
Of course, the Canisius College installation is being used for their Division I baseball and softball programs, among other sports, while the St. Joe’s facility hosts home games on A-Turf, as well as football, soccer, and lacrosse. A-Turf will be hosting the first annual A-Turf @ Canisius College 14U tournament in June. Come see some of the best local talent in the age group compete at this outstanding facility.
Being the great sports enthusiasts that we are at A-Turf, it makes sense for us to sponsor, and for me to manage, a great group of young men that prefer baseball to most any other summer activity.
Last year the team had an awesome season, 38 wins – 4 losses, and won a number of league and tournament championships. Follow our progress as we play our 2nd season in tournaments that range from the Toronto area to Pennsylvania. You’ll see us around the Western New York circuit as well.
Win or lose, join us in 2009 as we journey through what promises to be another outstanding summer of fun, lessons learned and great competition.
Play ball!

Titans Repeat as Michael Napoleone Tournament Champions in Batavia
The A-Turf Titans posted a 5-0 record at the 2nd Annual Michael Napoleone Memorial baseball tournament in Batavia, successfully defending their title. The championship game was under the lights at Williams Park, the only diamond not left under water after all the rains. Peter Moran was brilliant, efficiently pitching the complete (5 inning/weather shortened) semi-final victory against Clarence (4-2) and dominating the Whitby hitters for six more innings in the final. Kyle Zurak came on in the seventh and pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts to preserve the victory. After Brian Dobmeier collected the first of his two singles to leadoff the 3rd inning, Tommy Styn gave the offense all they would need to win with a 2-run homer. Tommy Kline and Tyler Green had multiple hits and the final score ended up 6-1. Zach Thomas had an outstanding defensive game, and Jake Logiudice was strong behind the plate, throwing out two runners on the bases.
