A Letter From the Club Director

Attack Volleyball Club of St. Louis, MO Attack Volleyball Club began in 1993 to offer young athletes from the North County of St. Louis the opportunity to participate and compete in the USA Volleyball Association. At that time, there were very few other clubs based in North County. The club offers teams for both girls and boys. The club mission is to develop strong physical skills for volleyball competition, sound character and intellectual skills for life. We encourage well-rounded athletes by supporting cross training in sports and other activities to create a balance for young players. The intent of this is to prevent player burnout while still supporting players with goals to advance past their high school level of competition. The club also now takes pride in the development of young coaches as many past players have returned to the club in that role as a way of paying back to the sport. Attack was started by a group of ex-collegiate players who believed that their volleyball careers gave them immeasurable opportunities, experiences and life lessons that would not have been possible without their involvement in this sport. This included a group of athletes who played on the first junior teams in the area that began in the early 70’s by the North County YMCA (now Emerson) and the North St. Louis Turners athletic society. These adult veteran players saw this as a way to offer the next generation of junior athletes those same benefits gained from participating in this exciting team sport. It was because of their commitment to the game of volleyball that they volunteered to offer those similar experiences to young players today. Attack is joined today by Dennis Nosco, an early founder in Junior’s Volleyball with Team St. Louis Volleyball Club and local high school coaching staff at both McCluer and Hazelwood Central volleyball programs Now the club is entering their 20th year in operation, the leadership holds two seats on the Gateway USA Volleyball Region Board, and continues to keep the cost for players significantly lower than the large clubs based in West and South Counties. Tryout information can be found at the club website: http://www.eteamz.com/attackvbc1/ or the Gateway Volleyball Region website: gatewayvb.org.
