CODES OF CONDUCT

The Code of Conduct is, we believe a simple and clearly worded document. It will provide those interested, concerned and responsible for the administration of the sport and those who play it with a clear understanding of the type of sport that Atlas San Diego will support and conversely “not support”. We are aware that trouble and distress in the game occur from time to time and it is for this reason that attention is focused on the need for Coaches, Players and Parents to learn how to cope with stressful situations in a mature manner.

COACHES CODE:
-Teach the love for game
-Winning is desirable but winning at any cost defeats the purpose of the game
-Losing can be a triumph when the team has given its best
-Officials and opponents should be treated and regarded with respect
-Official decisions should be accepted no matter how unfair they may seem
-The ideal is the greatest good to the greatest number
-In soccer as in life, “treat others as you would have them treat you”

PLAYERS CODE:
-Play the game for the game’s sake
-Be generous when you win
-Be graceful when you lose
-Be fair always no matter what the cost
-Obey the laws of the game
-Work for the good of the game
-Accept the decision of the officials with good grace
-Conduct yourself with honor and dignity

PARENT’S CODE:
-Children have more need of example than criticism
-Make athletic participation for your child and others a positive experience
-Attempt to relieve the pressure of competition not increase it
-Be kind to your child’s coach and the officials, remember the coaches are volunteers
-The opponents are necessary friends, without them your child could not participate
-Applaud good play by your team and by members of the opposing team.
-The referee is a symbol of fair play integrity and sportsmanship
-Accept the results of each game
-Encourage your child to be gracious in victory
-Turn defeat to victory by working towards improvement
