“Stephanie Phillips” Commitment to Excellence Award

(Previously named the Director’s Award)
This award is given annually to a player from each team in the Atlanta Viper Fast Pitch Club. The award symbolizes the dedication and desire that Stephanie Phillips exhibited during her playing days as a Viper, and the courage and inspiration she was to so many throughout her battle with cancer. Stephanie began her fast pitch career as a Viper in 1998 and remained in the program through 2003 when hip replacement surgery prevented her from continuing to play. Less than 24 hours after the hip replacement surgery, Stephanie arrived at the field to help inspire her Fayette County High School team to the 2002 Georgia State Championship. The inspiration that Stephanie provided reaches far beyond the Viper family through her volunteer work with Camp Sunshine (an outreach program for youthful victims of cancer), and to countless others on a national scale.
AWARD CRITERIA
· A player in the Atlanta Viper Fast Pitch Club
· Exhibits “leadership” qualities within her respective team
· Exhibits a “cooperative spirit” with her coaches
· “Inspires” her teammates through her actions and/or words
