ATKINSON GARDEN CLUB HOSTS PAJAMA PARTY - FRIDAY, SEPT 25th
The Atkinson Garden Club, in partnership with the Kimball Library, will be hosting a “pajama party” for area youngsters on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 from 6:30 – 7:30 in the Children’s Room of the library at 5 Academy Ave. The entrance fee will be one new pair of children’s pajamas – infants thru' teens – or one new nature related children’s book to benefit the nationally acclaimed Pajama Program. Refreshments will be served, pajamas may be worn, and the children will be treated to readings by Garden Club and Library members!
The Pajama Program, a non-profit organization recently featured on the Today Show and Oprah, provides new books and cozy, warm pajamas to needy children in orphanages, shelters, group homes, or wherever there is a need. What began as a few personal contributions has grown nationwide, with well over 300,000 pairs of pajamas donated to date.
Items donated in New Hampshire will be given to New Hampshire children. Last year, the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., of which the AGC is a member, collected and distributed more than 125 pairs of warm pajamas to area children in need. If you are unable to attend the party on Sept. 25, books and pajamas (flame retardant for infants and children) or sweat pants and shirts for the older children may be left in the Children’s Room of the Kimball Library.
