FORMER ATHENS LITTLE CAT WRESTLER MAKES GOOD:

I thought I would share some information on a former Little Cat wrestler. My son, Chris Hulbert wrestled with the Cats when he was 5, 6, 7 years old (his practice partners were C. Sindoni and S. Raupers). Back then, all 3 of them had much success in youth events, always taking home trophies. I was glad to see how the boys have done WAY TO GO CHAD!

Just wanted to let you all know how Chris' career turned out (as we, unfortunately, got transferred to Richmond, VA).

Overall record 158-22
8th in AAA States Junior Year
4th in AAA States senior year (only losses (2) of tourney to Gillespie, Great Bridge who was 3rd at Walsh Iron Man and 5th at Beast of the East).
2X Regional Champion
4X District Champion
Holds 14 of school's 18 career records...is 5th all-time in Career Region winning percentage, and 7th all-time in career wins.

Chris turned down 5 or 6 opportunities to wrestle in college to pursue an engineering degree at Virginia Tech although he rolls around quite a bit with the club team.

Just wanted you all to know that Cat success extends beyond Athens, and we will always remember our time as Lil' Cat parents with fondness.

Good luck this year to Coach Bradley and the Varsity Cats.

P.S. Wow...I remember reffing Shawn back when he was in high school. Time really flies, doesn't it?

Hey Cats!

Just wanted to let all of you know that even those of us who move to warmer climates watch how you all are doing!

We hope that you have a VERY SUCCESSFUL season in 2004-2005. My son, Chris, started wrestling in the "Little Cats" program when he was 5 wrestling with Chad Sindoni, the two Raupers boys and many of the other varsity wrestlers.

What a great community and parental support group you all have in Athens...we hated to move, but economics (and a promotion demanded it). Chris has used the foundation you all gave him to go 30-4 last year with district and regional titles at 103 as a freshman. 2 of his losses were at states to the 2nd and 3rd placers.

He especially wanted me to say "hi" to Chad and the Raupers...GOOD LUCK...bring home some state medals!

Kirk Hulbert
