Minutes of October 14, 2008 Meeting

Gary Rosh read the minutes of the 9/9/08 meeting. Judi Coombs had a comment that she doesn’t recall that it was a burden to secure the ads and put them together for the programs and that LaBarr & LaBarr chose not to place an ad because placement was a problem. Motion to accept the minutes by Tim Davidson; 2nd by Coach Young.

Treasurer’s Report:

Expenditures include: Printing of the Danville program - $599.28; Ice - $15.96; Jr. High Pizza - $60.01 and subs for JV - $95.40; Dandy for Varsity subs - $190.80 (twice).

Deposits include: $788.80 concession stand; $305.00 clothing, $316.00 program; $294.00 50/50; $750.00 from Osram.

Deposits include: $1,401.55 concession stand; $414.00 clothing; $361.00 50/50; $502.90 program. Total = $3,205.75.

Motion to accept report made by Coach Young; 2nd by Gary Rosh. In the future, Judi will e-mail the monthly report to Joan to be included in the minutes.



Old Business:
        
Taxes:        Jeanne Baird sent an e-mail to officers. Judi didn’t get it, so Jeanne gave her a copy at the meeting. The IRS non-profit code requires year-end 2007 bank statements and monthly statements for 2008 from January to present. They have to be official bank statements attached to each month’s meeting minutes.

Shelves:         Colin Eby and Brooke Kline will do as their senior project.

Tent:                It is in a safe spot and will have to be moved before track season.

100th Season/Homecoming: Coach Young will take orders for throw-back jerseys until Monday. 24 jerseys have been ordered so far. You will need to order them for the players as well as Coach will keep the jerseys he has for another occasion.

Check:        Coach Young gave Judi an uncashed check in the amount of $150.00 dated 11/14/06 for a trash can.

Posters:        Smith Photography donated damaged posters which were sold for $5.00 each, profit of $210.00.

Scrimmage meal:        No bill.

Coach Young presented bills for t-shirts and decals. He also discussed necessary work that was done to the sideline communication equipment (replacement parts & repairs) in the amount of $694.80. A motion was made by Gary Rosh to pay the bill; 2nd by Tim Davidson. There was a discussion about the care of the equipment and the coaches have been so instructed.

A bill was presented in the amount of $78.90 for the website. The junior high players sold approximately $500.00 in saver’s cards. Liz Kline presented a bill for $235.09 for the concession stand.

Billboard:        The billboard will be up on Elmira Street from October 1st until at least November 1st.

Concession Stand:        Volunteers are needed for the next 2 games, at least 3 for each game plus 50/50 sellers.

Towanda:        There will be a caravan from Harlan Rowe with township and State police escorts.

Rusty Rail:        Coach Thompson has been invited to perform the coin toss. Mary Raupers discussed having Shane’s two grandfather’s be honorary captains. Joe Raupers played for Athens in 1960-61 and Leo Reagan played in 1943-44. Tim Davidson made a motion to accept; 2nd by Coach Young.   The Rusty Rail dinner will be Wednesday, Nov. 5th in Sayre.

Umbrellas:        Coach Young place the exact same order as last time. The vendor informed him they would be unavailable until the end of November, so the order was cancelled.

Savings Account:        Liz Kline, Judi Coombs and Gloria Leavenworth all have to sign the form for the bank.

Cheerleaders:        A thank-you card was received from Mrs. Davidson and the girls for the Club’s support so they were able to go to “cheer camp”.

JV games:        Gary Rosh reported that he found out from Coach Jay Lefchak that there haven’t been ambulances at some away games and that he was told that a trainer is fine. Don Jones commented that we should insist they have an EMT for everybody’s safety or we don’t play. Gary Rosh will call Mrs. Schulze.

Parent’s Night:        Is the Sayre game. There was a discussion about the Club purchasing reserved seats for senior parents. They do get tickets to the game.

Football Banquet:        Will be at the school on the Sunday afternoon between NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl. Senior gifts will again be embroidered blankets – need 15 for players and 4 for cheerleaders. Jeanne Baird will check around for them.

Gary Rosh made a motion to adjourn; 2nd by Coach Davidson.
