ATHENS LITTLE LEAGUE SPRING 2016 REGISTRATION REMAINS OPEN

This is a reminder that registration for the Spring 2016 Season of Athens Little League Baseball & Softball is still open and will remain open through the last day of tryouts for all divisions below Senior League. (Senior League will remain open through their tryouts in March.)

If your son or daughter has not yet been registered for this season and you wish to register them, you can do that online through our JEVIN registration system

In addition, you can register in-person on the day of tryouts which are scheduled for this weekend. Information about tryouts has already been sent out and can be found on our web site as well.

Please note that if you register in-person on the day of tryouts, your son or daughter's name will be added to the list for their division at the end. However, if they are registered by Friday, February 12th, then their name will be on the printed list in alphabetical order and not at the end. During their tryout session, players will be called according to the list.

Bottom-line, preferably, it would be best for players to register before hand. It won't effect their evaluation, but if they are at the end of the list, they will probably be out in the cold longer.

If you unable to register through the Jevin System, please let us know so that we can help you get that done. If for some reason that is not possible, you can download a copy of the registration form here, fill it out, and email back to president@athenslittleleague.org, so that your son or daughter's name will be on the list. You can submit payment for the fee at tryouts.

Again, if you have any questions, let me know. We are trying to get as many players in the system as possible BEFORE tryouts so that our lists of players are as complete as possible.

TRAINING FOR POTENTIAL 2016 SPRING MANAGERS & COACHES

Athens Little League has scheduled mandatory training sessions for anyone interested in serving as a manager or coach for either baseball or softball during the Spring 2016 season. (This training will take the place of that training that in the past occurred at the same time as equipment pick-up.)

The next training is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at the Athens-Clarke County Regional Library.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand to check in and to insure that we start on time.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the following topics:

  • General Requirements and expectations for all coaches and managers;
  • The Athens Little League Safety Plan & related matters;
  • Mandatory Background checks for all volunteers;
  • Concussion Training and Protocols;
  • Requirements for Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse; and
  • The Jevin Online Sports Management System.

(If available, please bring a laptop or tablet device to the training to access Jevin.)
