TOP GOAL SCORER
Signed in 1974 Dennis Gray went on to score 310 goals for Talbot in 424 games. The former Ayr United striker scored an amazing 59 goals in his first season, and held the honour of scoring the most goals in one game for Talbot when he hit the net seven times against Whitletts in 1975. His record was broken by Stevie Gallen in 1998. Dennis was capped 11 times for Junior Scotland and scored seven goals. He also represented his country at Schoolboy level.
MOST CAPPED PLAYER
William young is the club's most capped player, who represented his country on 12 occasions. Billy was signed from Ardrossan Winton Rovers in 1980 and captained his club and country. He wore the captains armband when Talbot won their historic "Three in a Row" and many felt that he could have been part of the Scotland set-up for many years.
BIGGEST VICTORY
This came on the 4th of January 1975 when Talbot won 15-0 at Whitletts during an Ayrshire Regional League South Section Match. Dennis Gray netted seven times for Talbot. Whitletts folded straight after this match.
MOST GOALS IN ONE GAME
During an 8-0 win over Kello Rovers in the League Cup sectional match in August 1998. Stevie Gallen scored all eight goals breaking Dennis Gray's record of seven in one match. The player then notched 5 goals against Annbank in the league some three months later. The diminutive striker's goal prowess soon dried up and he moved onto Whitburn in 2000.
Thursday, October 26
This record was equalled by John Boyle on Wednesday 9.8.06 during a Rockware Glass League Cup (section) game.Talbot beat Muirkirk Juniors (15-1) at Burnside Park with the Talbot striker scoring eight. To prove the old adage that "no player is bigger than the club", John found himself relegated to the bench for the next game, away to Glenafton Athletic! The victory itself also equalled Talbot's highest ever goals tally in one match when they scored 15 without reply against Whitletts Victoria in 1975. (see above)
WORST DEFEATS
Talbot's bitterest rivals, Cumnock Juniors inflicted the clubs biggest defeat in the League Cup 1/4 Final when they steamrollered Talbot 11-0 on the 23rd September 1972 at Townhead Park. This in turn set an aggregate score of 16-1. Talbot's worst home defeat came in 1910 when Muirkirk Athletic thrashed Talbot 10-2 in a league match. With the league over both clubs decided to play one game for the four points. Talbot thought it was no more than a bounce game and fielded a weak side, while the Athletic sent down their best eleven.
MOST GOALS IN A CUP FINAL
The most goals scored by a Talbot player in a cup final is three. It was first done by John "Tyke"Nisbet who scored all three goals against Irvine Meadow in the 1920 Ayrshire Cup final. George Babbington hit a treble against Kello in the 1931 Irvine Herald Cup final when Talbot won 5-1. However Gordon Mills holds the record for the most famous hat trick when he scored against Glenafton in the 1992 Scottish Cup Final.
