Whitewater Cup Champions!
What a great way to complete our pre-season tuneup - with a 3 - 0 record. Even more impressive is the ZERO - YES ZERO goals were given up.
Game 1 - Thunder - At the pregame talk I challenged the team to start out quick! Boy did they respond. In the first minute of the game Kurt dribbled down the right side and forced the defender to give up a corner kick. Kevin lofted a super ball into the area and off of one of the Thunder defenders - 1 -0. During this entire game the Cobra's played great and were very sportsman like in an extremely lopsided game.
Game 2 - United - Once again the team started really quick. Alex got the ball in the right corner - crossed it and it bounced one of the the United players for a 1 - 0 lead. This team continued its good play and great sportsmanship during another lopsided match.
Game -3 Red Dogs - Championship! The two teams were extremely well matched. The Cobra's dominated play for the first half and took the lead on a great shot from Nick. During the second half the Cobra's started strong but the Red Dogs kept fighting. For the last 10 minutes of the game the Red Dogs tested the Cobra backline over and over. The Cobra's would not be defeated and came away with a 1-0 win and their second championship in two weeks!! WAY TO GO COBRA'S

CHAMPIONS!!!
The Cobra's participated in the Dulles National Tournament August 25th and 26th. They competed against some of the up nad coming teams in the region. They performed to near perfection! They scored 12 goals while have only 2 scored on them while enroute to a perfect 4 - 0 record!
Game 1 -Vista Dragons : In 99 degree heat the Cobra's came out a little flat against a tought Dragon's team. The score was 0 - 0 at halftime. The secon half started great for the Cobra's who quickly scored to make it 1 -0. The rest of the match was very close but the Alex knocked in the second goal and the win was secured!
Game 2 - Thunder: The Cobra's kept up their winning way enroute to a 6 -2 win over the Thunder from Manassas. The score may sound lopsided but the game was close until mid-way through the second half.
Game 3: Sterling Extreme - Our old friends from Sterling have added some great players! They and in great form but the Cobra's would not be beaten. In a very tight match the Cobra's jumped out to a 3 -0 lead in the second half and cruised into the Championship game.
The Championship - Vista Dragons: WOW! Double extra time win!! The Cobra's won this game mid-way through the second extra time period when Nick would not be denied as the ball was played right into his face! He shook it off and beat the keep on a stunning goal. Then 3 minutes later Alex buried an awesome far post shot to ensure the championship!!!
Way to play!! keep up the great work.

Cobra's Show Well at VA BEACH!
The Cobra's traveled to Va Beach for the VA Beach Spring Classic. This was the first time this new team got to play together in competition and it showed during the first game. The Cobra's played a very talented Sterling Extreme club but the play was sloppy! The Cobra's opened the scoring right before halftime. Taking the 1-0 advantage into the second half Tarkan quickly doubled the advantage to assure the win.
The second game pitted the Cobra's against Hockessin Heat from Delaware. This time the sloppy play allowed the Heat to grab a 1 - 0 advantage before half-time. A defensive break down in the second half allow the Heat to take a 2 - 0 advantage until Cameron answered with a 10 yard blast to make the score 2 - 1.
The third game showed just what the Cobra's can be. They beat the FC Stars from Massachusetts 5 - 2 and assured the Cobra's of some well deserved hardware!!
The Heat and Cobra's met again in the finals. This game was much like the first - sloppy! The Cobra's came up short 2-0.
For a brand new team the Cobra's had an amazing showing!! WAY TO GO!!!!
