History of ASH BASEBALL

ASH Baseball has established a rich tradition that has culminated into one of the elite programs in the State of Louisiana.  Alexandria Senior High School established it's first baseball team in 1982.  In 1986, ASH hired Coach Don Boniol who remained the head coach from 1986 until 2004.  Under Coach Boniol's reign, the ASH Trojans won 2 State Championships, was State Runner-up 2 times, and made it to the state semi-finals 9 years.

The highlight of Coach Boniol's career was a time period between 1988 and 1990 when over the span of 3 baseball seasons, the ASH Trojans had a 47-game winning streak.  That winning streak culminated into back-to-back state championships in 1988 and 1989 followed by a state runner-up in 1990.

1988 - Won the last 14 games of a 28-3 season culminating into a Class 3-A State Championship

1989 - Won all 29 games culminating into a Class 3-A State Championship

1990 - Lost game 5 of the season to end 47-game win streak against Lafayette 9-8 on March 6, 1990.  Went on to a 23-5 record and lost in the State Championship game 9-7 to John Curtis.

Below are the statistics of the 1988 & 1989 Championship seasons:
