2008/2009 BU-17(CSL Gold/Premier Division)



TEAM INFORMATION


                                                        TRYOUTS
 We are looking for a couple of experienced club players to join a winning team.  We will be playing in the highly competitive Gold/Premier Division during the 2008/09 season. Our team had a successfull first season the Gold division finishing in 4th place including reaching the Sweet 16 in League Cup.  Tryouts will be held April - June 2008.  For tryout information please contact Alex Aguilar: 949-632-0618 or email: aguilar@irwd.com


UPDATE:
   April 2008:  Chivas Cup(Semi-Finalist):  The Aztecs continued to play great soccer by winning their first two pool games.  The Aztecs met LAFC Premier to determine who would advance to the final.  The Aztecs dominated play and were winning 1-0 and LAFC received a PK on a controversial call as time ran out.  LAFC converted the PK to end the game 1-1.  LAFC advanced to the final by goal differential tie breaker. The Aztecs showed they can play at the Premier level.

March 2008:  Irvine Spring Classic(BU17 Champions):  The Aztecs continued to prepare for the National Cup by playing up in the BU17 Division.  The Aztecs had a great tournament with some hard fought games that eventually led the Aztecs to win the tournament.  All the players were motivated and played well. 

March 2008:  California Spring Cup(BU17 Finalist):  The Aztecs returned after the high school season by playing up in the BU17 Division.  The Aztecs played some hard fought and physical games to reach the finals against a BU17 God team.  The Aztecs held a 3-2 in the final five minutes before Madrid took advantage of some defensive mistakes to come back and win an exciting game 4-3.  The Aztecs played hard and showed tremendous character during the tournment. 

February 2008:  The Aztecs had a successfull first season in the Gold division finishing in 4th place, only 2 points from 2nd place. The Aztecs will be looking to add some key players to make a run at Nationals this year and hopefully get placed in Premier for the 08/09 seasson.  The team did very well this past season and we all look forward to getting back together after CIF playoffs.  Our first tournament will be on March 8th and 9th.  We wil participate in other tournaments to prepare for Nationals.

August 2007 Santa Barbara Cup(Champions):  The Aztecs won their 3rd consecutive tournament outscoring opponents 13-0 including including shutting out opponents for the second tournament in a row.   The Aztec defense has been impressive by holding opponents to one goal in 12 games. The Aztecs played a hard fought final against LHU Lightning scoring with less that 15 minutes to win 1-0.  The Aztec scoring was provided by Quintin Aguilar, Efrain Alonso, Christian Chavira, Allen Estrada , Alfredo Figueroa, and Jorge Valle.

 August 2007 Mission Viejo Invitational(Champions):  The Aztecs continued to play impressive soccer by outscoring opponents 25-0 to win the Championship.  Aztec forwards Quintin Aguilar and Alfredo Figueroa led the way by scoring 6 goals each. Other players scoring included Efrain Alonso, Ivan Moreno, Jorge Valle, Pablo Martinez, Christian Chavira, and Ray. The defense anchored by Allen Estrada, Anthony Lopez, Pablo Martinez, Victor Martinez, and goalie Evan Esparza played some outstanding defense. GREAT JOB, BOYS!!!!

 July 2007 4th of July California Cup(Champions): The Aztecs played impressive soccer by outscoring opponents 16-1 enroute to its 3rd California Cup Championship. Aztec forward Alfredo Figueroa lead the way by scoring 9 goals during the tournament. The Aztec defense anchored by Frank Weng, Allen Estrada, Edgar Rodriguez, Anthony Lopez, and goalie Jake Mueller allowed only one goal during the tournament. Great job, Boys!!!!

May 2007 National Cup: The Aztecs had a tough bracket going into Nationals. ASC easily won their first match against TMV Hawks 2-0 behind goals from Ivan Moreno. The next game against Gold team Force SC was a hard fought match. The Aztecs had the game tied most of the game behind a goal by Quintin Aguilar. Two controversial calls led to Force scoring the winning goal 2-1. In the Elimination round ASC faced the first place Gold division winner Celtics Hoops. The Aztecs set the tone early by scoring the first goal 3 minutes into the game by Alfredo Figueroa. The Celtic Hoops battled back to tie the game at halftime. In the second half the Hoops scored to take a 2-1 lead. With less than 5 minutes remaining Quintin Aguilar scored a goal to tie the 2-2. The two teams ended the game tied and played into overtime. With less that 5 minutes remaining to have PK's, the Hoops scored and won the game 3-2. ASC played outstanding in Nationals and showed that they could win against Gold Level Teams.

March 2007 2007 California Spring Cup(Champions): The Aztecs did not miss a beat returning to action after the high school season by outscoring opponents 14-2 and winning the Championship.

September 2006 OC Kickoff Classic(Champions): The Aztecs played well by winning this tournament as a prelude to starting the regular season. The Aztecs outscored opponents 13-4 with 2 shutouts.

August 2006:   California Sun & Surf(Quarter Finals): The Aztecs started the tournament wtih 2 wins against Los Zorros and Albion. The Aztecs played an impressive game against West Coast FC ending the game 0-0. The Aztecs lost to Valley United Blast 5-1 in the quarter finals.   

Santa Barbara Cup(3rd Place): The Aztecs entered this tournament to play new teams. The Aztecs lost a close game to Atletico Madrid 3-2, the same team that beat us in our first State Cup 8-1. The Aztecs rose to the challenge playing VUSC Blast for the second time taking a 1-1 tie into halftime. Blast won 3-1, but the Aztecs showed improvement against this team. The Aztecs beat Walnut Creek 5-0 to end the tournament.

July 2006 Pateadores Cup(3rd Place): The Aztecs entered the tournament with 5 loan players. The team almost mad the final on points.

ASC California Cup(Finalist): The Aztecs played up one year(U16) for the opportunity to play teams from England. The Aztecs rose to the challenge in defeating the England team Brunswick FC 2-0 to start the tournament. The Aztecs tied CUSC Revolution 2-2 and beat SB Blast 2-0 to reach the finals.

June 2006 Southwest Summer Classic(Champions): The Aztecs outscored opponents 9-2 in route to winning the Championship. The Aztecs defense rose to the occasion and shutout teams in the last three games. The Aztecs offense was led by Quintin Aguilar(4 goals, 1 assist), Pablo Martinez(goal, 2 assists), Ivan Moreno(goal), Anthony Lopez(goal), Alfredo Figueroa(goal),and Christian Chavira(goal).

Arsenal Route 66 Classic(Semi-Finalist): The Aztecs made a strong showing in the Gold bracket of the Arsenal Tournament. The Aztecs played a tough tournament in hot conditions> The Aztecs beat the Flyers Cougars 3-2 and tied with Arsenal 3-3. The Aztecs gave Arsenal all they could handle, but needed a win to advance to the Final.

April 2006: CAL SOUTH STATE CUP CHAMPIONS: The Aztecs were crowned State Cup Champions after winning the State Cup Tournament Championship Final 3-2 against Monarcas USA. The Aztecs outscored opponents 23-4 in the tournament. The Aztecs offense was led by Pablo Martinez(8 goals, 1 assist), Quintin Aguilar(5 goals, 3 assists), Ivan Moreno(3 goals, 1 assist), Christian Chaviras(3 goals, 2 assists), Edgar Rodriguez(2 goals, 2 assists), Efrain Alonso(1 goal,3 assists), Alex Barragan(goal), Alfredo Figueroa, and Trini Ramos. The Aztecs outstanding defense was anchored by Anthony Lopez, Nestor Sanchez, Allen Estrada, Frank Weng, Joel Sanchez, Justin Brisbane, and Evan Esparza. A special thanks to the coaching staff of Francisco Alonso and Andrew Schmidt for preparing the team for this tournament.

March 2006:  California Spring Cup(Finalist):  The Aztecs started the tournament with a 0-0 tie against Monarcas USA. The Aztecs failed to score on many opportunities. The Aztecs rebounded the next two games winning 4-1 in both games against Protege and United Futbol Club to advance for the Championship.  The Aztecs controlled the Final against the Slammers and missed two clear opportunities to score. The Slammers took advantage and scored with less that 2 minutes to play.

January 2006
:   Irvine Winter Classic(Semi-Finalist):  The Aztecs started the tournament with two impressive victories scoring 8 goals with 0 goals allowed.  The Aztecs played a physical game against United Futbol Club, but came up short behind some controversial calls late in the game to lose 1-0.  The Aztecs rebounded to defeat the City Strikers 2-1 for Third Place.   

December 2005:  Anaheim Holiday Classic(Champions):  The Aztecs finished out 2005 with a Championship. With the Aztecs leading scorer out with an injury until February, the Aztecs added three additional players going into the tournament to strengthen an already strong team.  The Aztecs defeated Cherif Fusion 3-0 in the Final. 

  November 2005:  CSL Silver Central(10-3-1): The Aztecs had an excellent season finishing out of first place by one point.  The Aztecs finished with 32 goals scored against 13 goals allowed and look forward to moving to Silver Elite next fall.  The Aztecs will plan a busy tournament schedule leading to State Cup in March 2006.

September 2005: Orange Kickoff Classic(9/3-9/5): The Aztecs played tough but could not get past LN Renegades and ended with a 2-2 tie.  The Aztecs caught fire in the second game and routed AZFC Hammers 12-0. The Aztecs played a physical game with Monarcas USA 1-1. The Aztecs controlled the next game against the Galaxy Pythons and won 1-0. The Aztecs missed the finals by 2 points.

August 2005:  Toyota Of Orange Classic(8/20-8/21): The Aztecs looked sharp defeating Cal North Bullard 2-0 to start the tournament. The following game against Cal North Hanford United resulted in a tie 1-1. The semi-final matched the Aztecs against Las Vegas White and the teams battled to a tie 1-1, and the Aztecs took the victory in PK's 4-3 to take the victory and advance to the Championship. The Aztecs faced their 5th Gold team of the summer against South Bay White. The game was scoreless by halftime with the Aztecs failing to take advantage of scoring opportunities.  In the second half South Bay came on strong and scored a 3-1 victory.

Arsenal Gunners Classic(8/13-8/14):  The Aztecs started the tournament with a route over the Premier Poway Vacqueros by winning 6-2. Leading the Aztecs scoring was Pablo Martinez(2 goals/assist), Quintin Aguilar(goal, 2 assists),  and goals by Trini Ramos, Carlos Pozos, and Allen Hernandez. The Aztecs next faced the Gold division Arsenal FC. The Aztecs rose to the challenge to score first with a goal from Quintin Aguilar to take a 1-0 lead after halftime.  Arsenal FC scored in the final minutes to end the game with a 1-1 tie.  In the Semi-Finals, the Aztecs battled from behind 1-0 for 55 minutes against Celtic Hoops before Celtic scored 2 quick goals on defensive mistakes.  Great Job Boys!!!

JULY 2005:  Rangers Summer Classic(7/30-8/1): The Aztecs took a three week break and returned to tournament play without skipping a beat. The Aztecs outscored their opponents over five games 32-6 enrout to the Championship.  Leading the scoring attack was Quintin Aguilar(9 goals, 2 assists), Pablo Martinez( 9 goals, 6 assists), Carlos Pozos(4 goals, assist), Efrain Alonso(3 goals, 4 assists), Trini Ramos(3 goals), Jesus Guzman(goal, assist), Allen H.(goal, assist), Allen E.(goal), Kaz Tsuroka(goal, 3 assists), Frank Weng(5 assists), and Anthony Lopez(assist).  GREAT JOB, BOYS!!!!!

JUNE 2005:  Southwest Soccer Classic Tournament(6/18-6/19): The Aztecs entered the BU13 Gold bracket with a tough 1-1 tie against the Premier Del Mar Sharks after dominating most of the game. The Aztecs rebounded in the second game to beat North Irvine 1-0.  In the third game the Aztecs jumped to the challenge and clearly dominated SWSC White 2-0 to advance to the Semi-finals. In the Semi-finals, the Aztecs played without their fastest forward and ended the game in a 1-1 tie.  In penalty kicks the Aztecs lost 3-2.  This was the Aztecs second consecutive Semi-final appearance.  GREAT JOB, BOYS!!!!!

Arsenal Route 66 Classic Tournament (6/4-6/5). The Aztecs started their summer soccer tournament schedule by making a statement with leading Gold division Samba White 1-0 after the first half. Sambas outstanding team came back in the second half and won 2-1. The boys played great and had a chance to win. The Aztecs upset the Flyers AUSC Cougars in the second game 3-2 in a very physical game between the two teams.  The Aztecs won their next game against the Independent Exiles(ISC Strikers/Surf) 3-1, just missing the Finals on points.  The Aztecs held their own against these top Silver Elite and  Gold teams and reaching the Semi-finals. This is a GREAT start to the Aztecs 2005 summer tournment schedule.  GREAT JOB, BOYS !!!!!!!!!!!!

MAY 2005: CSL Spring League- Congratulations to the Aztecs in finishing the 2005 CSL Spring League undefeated with a BU13 Division leading 54 goals made to 3 goals allowed in 10 games. The Aztecs defense just played outstanding thus giving the offense plenty of scoring opportunities.
  The Aztecs completed the CSL Fall/Spring leagues undefeated with 118 goals with only 12 goals allowed.
GREAT JOB, BOYS!!! 

March 2005: State Cup Results
Congratulations to the ASC Express Aztecs for making it to the Round of 16 at State Cup. The boys really stepped it up after an opening game loss to play some exciting soccer while beating some experienced Silver Elite teams.

January 2005: BU-13 Bronze Central CSL Regular Season Champs!!
Congratulations to the ASC Express Aztecs for an undefeated season(12-0), with a club leading 64 goals with 9 goals allowed  Great Job, Boys!!!!

Team News:  The Aztecs made their presence known by entering their first tournament and beating established silver and silver elite teams on their way to the 4th of July California Cup Championship. Great Job, Boys!!!
July 2004 Pateadores Cup:  The Aztecs were a last minute addition to this tournament and again played some outstanding soccer leading to a dissapointing 2-1 loss in the semi-finals. Great job, Boys!!!
July 2004 Rangers Classic: The Aztecs had a goal to reach the finals and the boys did not dissapoint. The Aztecs met the highly regarded Real Madrid in the semifinals and won the game 2-1 with a penalty kick in the last minute of regulation.  The Aztecs played the Downey Eagles in the Championship game but lost in the end 4-2.  Great job,  Boys!!!! 
August 2004 Orange Classic:  
The Aztecs did an outstanding job with only 11 players in this tournament. The Aztecs played great soccer and reached their second consecutive Championship game before losing to the Renegades.  With no substitutes the boys played their hearts out!!!!  Great job, Boys!!!!
The Aztecs ended the summer tournament schedule winning 1 championship, 3 finals, and 1 semi-final.  Great job to the Boys and coaching staff this summer for a job well done.
The Aztecs are now ready to serve notice to the Bronze Central South!!!! Watch out !!!Here we come!!!!
