ASATacoma.Org Umpires Association
Welcomes you to the Tacoma Umpires web site. Please visit as often as you can and watch us grow!
|
ASATacoma.org is bringing ASA back
to Tacoma
People
we need umpires! Some of our best known umpires have died over the last
two years. John Webster, Joe Bailey and others are retiring and/or
having major surgery.
Meanwhile
the game keeps growing adding more fields and tournaments
stretching to and beyond the limit, the limited number of umpires that
there are.
Then
everyone wants the "good" umpires. The dedicated umpires not the
ones just looking for money $$$.
People we
need more umpires. If you enjoy the game of softball willing
to learn what it takes to be a "good" umpire. ASA is where you will get
trained to be that umpire Do it for the kids the "good" ones do.

ASATUA Meeting Minutes February 15th 2007
Lori Bish was there having found this one open date in her Pac-10 schedule to come talk with us. She talked about 10 minutes on the female umpire and the similarity to minority umpires and what we can all do to help each other achieve our goals. "Wild" Bill Silves did not make it to the meeting apparently he has the same cold I got in Oklahoma City it must have been in the beer. But Tim Douglas from SMSUA brought SMSUA's lap top and power point presentation to cover 2007 rule changes, pitching, batting, and the strike zone. In addition I present information on a fund raising concept for ASATacoma Umpires Association and showed the information available on my website plus why, when, and where the National Umpire schools are in our region. I also had the opportunity to show off the new interactive Umpire mechanics CD and talked about having available to us at the ball park. 17 umpires from our area where present plus the two dignitaries mentioned before. This is a good showing but I would like for you to join us for next Thursday's training meeting 6:30 at the Spanaway library and don't forget Sunday February 25th 11:00 AM at Lincoln High School (old Mt Tahoma) Gym. We will be done in time to get to WWUA's meeting at 4 PM. I look forward to seeing you there. There is a chance that Jack Floyd will join us next Thursday and maybe "Wild" Bill will be well enough to stop by as well. Dealing with the line-up,DP/Flex and we will have a living line up to work through.
