Recreation Commission
The Recreation Commission is a state-enabled body created by the Mayor and Council pursuant to O.C.G.A. sections 36-64-1 through 36-64-14. The Commission consists of a minimum of five (5) and a maximum of nine (9) members, appointed by the Mayor. All members must be residents of the City, except one member may come from the Milton high School district. The members of the Board are appointed for five-year terms. The Board meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. All meetings are open to the public.

The purpose of the Recreation Commission is established in the O.C.G.A. sections listed above. Basically, the Commission is charged with directing the City’s recreation programs to include budgeting, planning and staffing. The Commission adopts and implements the City’s Recreation Master Plan, which serves as a blueprint for development of facilities and programs.
