Armstrong Marching Band Update - 6/7/17

Welcome to the Armstrong Marching Band!!  Here is your first update for the fall season: 
  • Registration for the fall 2017 Marching Band Season is currently closed.  If you are interested in joining the AHS Marching Band, please email Mr. Woelfle as soon as possible.  The current list of registered students can be found on the Documents Page of the Armstrong Band Website (no personal information is posted). 
  • Current High School Students had a rehearsal after school on Tuesday, 6/6/17 and should have received their printed music with a Summer Letter.  The Summer Letter is also posted on our Documents Page of the Armstrong Band Website.  If there are any issues with your music, please contact the directors.
  • Current Middle School Students will receive their printed music and the same Summer Letter through the USPS based on their Google Registration Form and should look for that in the next week or so.  The Summer Letter is also posted on the Documents Page of the Armstrong Band Website.  When you receive your music, please look through it right away.  If there are any issues with your music, please contact the directors.
  • School Marching Band Instruments for Current High School Students have been issued and those students should be all set to go.  If you have any questions, please contact the Mr. Woelfle.
  • School Marching Band Instruments for Current Middle School Students have not been issued yet; Mr. Woelfle will send a specific email to you in the next week with details.
  • Recordings of the Marching Band Demo Music and "real" versions of the songs are posted in a Google Folder that students/families can use to stream or download the music.  Links can be found in the PDF version of the Summer Letter and on the Welcome Page of the Armstrong Band Website.  There are several access points listed in case you have trouble accessing the audio with your browser/device.  Please try all of these if necessary, if you continue to have problems contact Mr. Woelfle.
  • Individual student practice over the summer is essential for a successful fall season; please encourage your student to listen to, practice, and memorize the music over the summer time.  Once we get going in August we have 8 rehearsals before our first formal performance at the State Fair.
  • A simplified Performance Calendar is listed in the Summer Letter and the full schedule can be found on the Calendar Page of the Armstrong Band Website.
  • The 2017 Armstrong Marching Band Handbook will be ready for publication near the end of June and will be emailed out at that time.  It will also be posted to the Documents Page of the band website.
  • Registration in the Activities Office begins on Tuesday, August 1st during school hours (7:30-2:30).  Students/families will need to complete the registration/payment process in the Activities Office of Armstrong High School before Noon on Thursday, August 24th in order to participate in the State Fair Parade Performance on Friday, August 25th.  The Activities Registration Form will be included in the Armstrong Marching Band Handbook and can be found on the Armstrong School Website as well.
  • Our season officially begins on Monday, August 14th with a parent/student meeting at 6:00pm in the Armstrong Cafeteria.  After the meeting (which will last less than an hour) families need to turn in their paperwork (which will be found in the Marching Band Handbook) and payments while students rehearse until 8:15pm.  We invite all parents to stay for our first Booster Meeting of the school year beginning around 7:15pm in the cafeteria.

This website serves as sign-up location for Parent Volunteering and Student Fundraising throughout the year.  We will inform parents and students of these ongoing opportunities during the year with announcements in class, group emails, and our AHS Band Eteamz Website (which you are reading right now).  Please check these various locations frequently to stay up to date on the latest opportunities.  You are asked to sign-in with an email address but you will not get spammed or receive junk mail from SignUp.

Band Boosters
Every parent is invited to join our Band Booster Organization to support our students and our program.  We meet several times during the year at 7:00pm in the AHS Band Room.  Meetings usually last about an hour and parents are welcome to come late or leave early as needed.  Our first meeting for the 2016-2017 school year will be Monday, September 19th at 7:00pm in the Band Room.  The rest of the meetings will be scheduled at the beginning of the school year.


2017-2018 Booster Meeting Schedule:
     -Monday, August 14th (after the MB Parent/Student Meeting) approx. 7:00pm
     -Monday, September 18th - 7:00pm

     -April - TBD
