Majors -- National League
Player Pitch League with target ages of 11 and 12 (5th and 6th Grades).
The Majors is for players ages 11 - 12 and is the highest level of play in our entire twelve and under program.
We have two different divisions of Major League baseball in 2001 because of our policy of place every 11 - 12 year old player in the Majors, which insures them a major league experience at the proper level of play. Instruction at this level continues to build upon the basic fundamentals and proper techniques taught throughout our minor league program.
The pieces come together so well that Arlington Babe Ruth Major League is widely recognized by our peers as one of the finest youth baseball programs to be found in the northern Virginia and suburban Maryland areas. In fact, since 1991 the Leagues All Stars have not only participated in seven Virginia State Tournaments, but have won three Championships and have advanced to the Southeast Regional Tournaments on three different occasions.
Majors -- American League
Same as Majors, National League, but teams are not as advanced.
Triple AAA -- National League
Player Pitch League with target ages of 9 and 10. Competitive league.
This level covers 9 - 10 year olds. The league introduces the simpler concepts of team defense, while continuing to emphasize all of the offensive skills of baseball.
Triple "A" is the first level where children begin to pitch - a fact which allows the game to be played under rules close to those of official baseball.
While scores are kept, winning is also placed in it's proper perspective. The real goals of teaching both offensive and defensive teamwork, in a relaxed atmosphere, are emphasized.
Since we stopped rushing our ten year olds to the majors, where they were over shadowed by older and more skilled players, we have found that these players now have a vital impact on all games and most importantly, are able to play in all the skilled positions.
This method leads to a challenging level of play which helps these players to ready themselves for the Majors. In fact, since 1990 six of our All-Star teams from this league have advanced to, and competed successfully in the Virginia State Babe Ruth Tournament.
Triple AAA -- American League
Same as Triple A, National league, but with teams not as advanced.
Double AA - Machine Pitch
Machine Pitch League with target ages of 8 and 9. Click on "Local Rules" to review the rules for Double AA. Noncompetitive league.
This level includes 9 year olds along with experienced eights and is predicated on the use of a pitching machine under actual game conditions using a regualtion baseball.
As in Single "A", the machine only delivers strikes so that one of the many benefits of this concept is that batting skills rapidly improve. Being able to hit the ball every time, a player's self confidence builds quickly. More hitting leads to more base running, fielding and throwing, making the game more exciting.
Machine pitch baseball, first introduced to Arlington by Babe Ruth in 1990, was an instant success. It is hard to believe that in Arlington, the use of machine pitch for players too old for T-Ball, yet not ready or able to pitch or hit a thrown baseball, is still unique to Babe Ruth Baseball.
Our machine pitch leagues have expanded to over 40 teams, and 500 boys and girls are rapidly building their confidence and baseball skills.
Single A National Division - Machine Pitch
Machine Pitch League with target ages of 7 and 8. Noncompetitive league.
The Single "A" league, which serves 7 - 8 year olds along with experienced six year olds, is the first of our machine pitch leagues. The use of the soft Safe-T-Ball is continued. Fundamental defensive skills are taught while offensive aspects of the game are emphasized.
We've noticed that youngsters have a more positive experience and feel better about themselves at this age level if we concentrate on the parts of the game which they like and are capable of handling.
With this in mind, the accuracy and consistency of the pitching machine provides the arena for plenty of action and excitement.
As in Super-T-Ball, coaches teaching fundamentals and children having fun are of top priority.
Single A American Division - Machine Pitch
Same as Single "A" National Division.
Super T-Ball - National Division
Super T-Ball is for children 5 - 6 years of age along with a few sevens. This is Babe Ruth's first level of play and it offers more than any other T-Ball program.
Super T-Ball uses the softer but lively Safe-T-Ball - one of the greatest safety advances in all of youth sports. You will never find anything better to build confidence in young players.
Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball has designed a program which allows each boy and girl the opportunity to develop skill at their own individual pace.
Since few children at this age have had the opportunity to hit a pitched baseball, Super T-Ball begins exclusively with the use of a batting tee. This allows each child to learn the proper fundementals and techniques of batting. It is amazing how rapidly even the youngest children improve to a point where they are ready to move on.
At some point during the season every player will master th skill of batting a ball off a tee. When this happens a child could soon become bored a the unchallenging repetition of hitting a stationary object. In light of this improvement we allow each child, when ready, to use the "coach pitch" concept where coaches toss the ball underhand to their own players. However, the batting tee is always used as a back up ensuring that every at bat is a positive experience.
The use of the Saft-T-Ball, starting off with a batting tee, followed by the coach pitch concept, leads to a no pressure, fun-filled, confidence building experience for every child involved.
Super T-Ball - American Division
Same as Super T-Ball, National Division.

Same as Super T-Ball, National Division.
BLASTBALL!®
BLASTBALL!® is a new program for the younger set, children aged 4 and 5 (those not yet in kindergarten). BLASTBALL!® is a fast-paced action game for kids that has more excitement and involvement for the little ones. The program teaches baseball fundamentals such as hitting, throwing and fielding while emphasizing the importance of team-work and sportsmanship. Each batter hits the ball past the fair distance marker and runs to the Blast Base HONK! When the ball is stopped by a fielder, he/she holds the ball up and yells Blast! If a fielder yells blast before the batter honks the base, the batter is out. If the batter honks prior to the fielder yelling blast, the batter scores a run. Teams of ten players offer the most fun-filled, action-packed play. Soft foam bat and ball promote safety.
