Fall Ball

Beginning in mid September, Arlington Babe Ruth (ABR) will offer a Fall Baseball experience for boys and girls, ages 6 to 12. The season will run through late October. The Fall season is about development - individual and team.

Whether a youngster wants to have a season full of fun games with their friends and schoolmates or to sharpen his or her competitive skills, the Cal Ripken Division of Babe Ruth Baseball has a team for each child.

Comprised of four levels of play, from T-ball to the Majors, Babe Ruth has enough diversity built into itself to make playing baseball an excellent sports activity for youth of all ages, abilities and experience levels. In the Fall, ABR will run leagues in coach pitch, and two levels of player pitch ball.  Interleague games are also scheduled with neighboring youth leagues and affiliates.

Like other Babe Ruth organizations, Arlington Cal Ripken Babe Ruth will continue to make every effort to ensure our players a program run by experienced and dedicated coaches, who teach an impressive amount of baseball in a constructive, non-pressured manner. This approach allows every boy and girl the opportunity to have an enjoyable fun-filled experience.

Registration for fall ball will be open very soon. Notices will be sent to all players in the past spring season via email when registration is open, as well as info on this page. Stay tuned for further information.

Andrew Alford Memorial Project

In April our community suffered a tragic loss with the unexpected passing of Andrew Alford, a third grader at Long Branch Elementary School who played for three years, from 2011 through 2013, in Arlington Babe Ruth.

Arlington Babe Ruth was a very important part of Andrew’s life and was critical to his development as a baseball player. Last summer, Andrew was wearing his Cal Ripken Arlington Babe Ruth league medal when he happened to meet Cal Ripken, Jr. at an Alexandria Aces college game. When Mr. Ripken saw the medal, the Hall of Famer graciously thanked Andrew for playing baseball. The gesture of a Hall of Famer thanking a young kid for playing baseball meant the world to Andrew.

Thank you for your consideration of making a gift in support of the Andrew Alford Memorial Project, which is sponsored by Arlington Little League, Long Branch Elementary School and Arlington Babe Ruth and which will honor Andrew's legacy by making improvements to the baseball field at Andrew’s school, Long Branch Elementary. The goals for the project are to include improvements to the field on which Andrew played, and also to add benches and other amenities, which will benefit Long Branch students and the many members of our community who use the field for youth baseball and softball for years to come.

Season in full Swing!

image_name2
Saturday April 5th marked the opening day of Arlington Babe Ruth's Spring 2014 season. ABR has over 100 teams and over 1,200 boys and girls playing in five levels of play, Blastball, T-ball, machine pitch, AAA and the Majors.

Opening day turned out with beautiful weather, and the season got off to a great start, though the weather since has dampened things just a bit. However, we're all looking forward to a wonderful and fun filled season of baseball.

Good luck to one and all for a great spring season!

Membership Required!

We welcome any and all comers to the ABR website, but access to our team pages and rosters is restricted to members only. This is a security measure on our part so parents will feel more secure about having information and pictures of their children posted on the website. Of course, no security measures are foolproof, but we do what we can.

If you are an ABR coach, parent, player or fan, apply for site membership by clicking on the schedules page. The form will ask you some general information questions. Please also indicate your child's name, team, and coach. Your membership request will be forwarded to the webmaster. Once the webmaster has your request, you will be approved if you have provided all the appropriate information. If the webmaster needs more info, you can expect an email asking for additional information. Once you respond with the answers, you will be granted membership. You may also email the ABR webmaster at the time you register with this information (along with the username you chose when you applied for membership) and your application will be approved a little more quickly.

Thank you for visiting the ABR website. We hope you enjoy your stay and appreciate your forbearance with our membership rules.
