Welcome To The Arena Youth Football League Web-Site!
The AYFL is a Non-Profit Select Indoor Football League that began in 2006. The AYFL started as an idea to allow youth players in our area an opportunity to play select indoor football after the regular football season had ended . The AYFL follows the same rules as the Arena Football League with slight variations geared towards our youth. With several dedicated coaches, players, and parents, this dream quickly became reality. In 2006 coaches scrambled to field 4 teams of select players. The season was a success. In 2007 We expanded to 11 teams forming junior and senior divisions. In 2008 we continued our growth adding a Midget Division with a total of 20 teams participating. In 2009 we have expand again into four divisions; 89ers, Midget, Junior, and Senior. Providing the opportunity for younger players to become involved and helping to secure the future of the Arena Youth Football League. The AYFL would like to acknowledge New York, Texas, Ohio, Connecticut, Illinois, and our home state of Washington as leaders in this great sport we have trademarked Arena Youth Football League. The AYFL openly invites other cities around the country to become involved with this great sport of select youth indoor football. It is our dream to see the the AYFL spread across the nation allowing for national championship games to be held. For more information please contact us. Preparations for 2010 season have begun
In 2009 the AYFL was proud to welcome new teams, new players, new parents, new coaches and a new 89er Division. We made Arrangements to start our season earlier than in previous year to ensure Senior Division participation in the AYFL would not interfere with high school program training camps.
AYFL BOARD IS REVIEWING 2010 DATES
The National Tournament: This event that was held in Dallas in 2008 was not held in 2009 due to the economic climate. The AYFL is working with others around the nation to bring back this very exciting event in 2010. The plan is to host the 2010 AYFL National Tournament right here in Washington State. Meetings are taking place between The AYFL and the local venues. We should have an annoucment very soon.
We wish to thank the Texas Football League (TFL) for hosting the first ever Arena Youth Football League National Tournament. Texas took first place in the Junior division with our Marysville Wolverines taking second and our Lake Stevens Huskies taking third. In the Midget division our Lake Stevens Vikings took First place. Cogratulations to all teams.
2010 Divisions:
Midget Division - Age 10 - 11 - 89er Division - Age 8 -9
GET INVOLVED...CALLING ALL COACHES On the local level: Each year we have to turn away several players due to lack of coaches. We have players that come from cities that do not have team representation and each year we hear the question “why doesn’t our city have a team?” The answer is simple. We need interested and active coaches that are willing to coach teams for their cities in all age divisions. The rule variations for arena are simple and fun. We even hold coaching clinics to make understanding this game simple. On a national level: The AYFL is helping other cities to start local leagues. We are helping them by providing our bylaws, rule books, forms, etc. We are willing to share our experiences with anyone who has the desire to start a local league. We offer the opportunity to be involved in a league that is spreading across our nation. It is not necessary to re-invent the wheel. The Arena Youth Football League has a goal of seeing national championship games for our youth. Please let us know if we can help you. Mike C. Barry President AYFL 425-791-6992
