Coach Bodnar to retire

After many weeks of deliberation, I have decided to retire as manager of the ARC/Post 103 Baseball team at the end of the current season. I have been coaching for 28 years, baseball is in my blood and always will be. I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years managing the ARC/Post 103 baseball team. It has truly been an honor to be at the helm of this community treasure. I will cherish the bonds that I have formed with my players and parents that I have had the pleasure to work with over the years.

It is time for me to pass the torch to new leaders to guide the program so that I can spend more time with my family.

I'd like to thank all those who have supported me throughout the years including the Jammal family who has been so generous with their financial support, American Legion Post 103, my employer Delta Railroad Construction who has allowed me to duck out early to make to away games and especially my wife Carol who has been a silent partner working countless hours on the reverse raffle every year, running errands for the team and holding dinners for me late at nights..

I have taken special pride in seeing so many of my charges go on to play college baseball and it's my hope that many of those will someday join the coaching ranks themselves. I plan to finally use some of my vacation time to actually go on vacation, start knocking off some of those many chores that get put on hold from March - July and to spend more time in my garden.

I will leave the door open a crack to serve the team in a lesser capacity as a part time coach or business manager, but the time requirements to do it all is just so overwhelming for one person to do.
