Arapahoe Little League Senior Division Wins 2007 Colorado State Championship
The Arapahoe Little League “Seniors Division” won the Colorado State Championship to become the best 15-16 year old team in Colorado. In doing so, they earned the right to participate in the Southwestern Regional Tournament.
The team met up at the A.L.L. fields for the trip of a lifetime. 10 players and 3 volunteer dads set off on a 16 hour trek across the Midwest. The two fully loaded vans set off on an all night journey across Kansas, Missouri and into Arkansas.
Game one featured a match up with The New Mexico State Champs. The A.L.L All Stars drew first blood holding a 1-0 lead through the first three innings. In the fourth the wheels came off as New Mexico capitalized on A.L.L. mistakes to score 19 unanswered runs to win 19-1.A.L.L. bounced back in game two with a 21-10 victory over host team Arkansas. However, the brutal heat took its toll on our players in game 3 against top seed Louisiana. The Louisiana All Stars showed A.L.L. what southern baseball was all about. Even though our boys set the tone and held the lead through 3 ½ innings, the boys from the La Place, Louisiana went on a hit fest that left our best pitchers down for the count with a 25-9 loss to eliminate A.L.L.With so many memories, our boys held their heads high. They had represented themselves as Colorado’s best and they portrayed themselves as true athletes and competitors. We came, we played, we saw the nation’s best and we can say that we played in the series that paves the way to the World Series.
