The 2009 7&8 Arkansas State Tournament will be hosted by the Blytheville Little League at the Arkansas Aeroplex. All team managers are to report for the tournament briefing on Friday at 5pm at the concession stand meeting room. The Offical Tournament Brackets are attached for your information. This is an Arkansas ONLY tournament, it will do you no good to contact anyone outside of Arkansas with questions or concerns about this tournament. It might even adversely effect future tournaments of this nature if you do.

New Fall Fast pitch Girls Softball League Organizing in Jonesboro

 Shannon Haynes reports, a new Fast-Pitch Girl Softball Program is being planned by her firm to be played at the North side Sports Complex in Jonesboro. This league is being designed to allow teams from anywhere in the Northeast Arkansas Area to participate longer in the great game of softball. We will be affiliated with Little League Softball, but duel sanctioning is allowed and encouraged. The plan calls for a 14u, 12u, 10u and 8u divisions to be formed of girls of the correct age as of 1 January. No matter where you played this spring or summer or what association you played under, you are invited to participate with us at North side. The league will start after the area association State tournaments are completed and run through September.  In 2010, we will be offering a spring/summer and fall program on an annual basis. After sign-ups are completed we will have a coaches meeting and determine how many games and mini-tournaments we will have and by what rules we will play. To enter a team a coach must select a team of girls and pay a $200 entry fee. To enter a team or for more information contact Shannon Haynes at 870-227-2585.

I have worked out a deal with Mid America Youth Sports Network and Nearsports to broadcast Little League games on the Nearsports internet radio station. I have agreed to allow this to take place as long as they follow the Little League policy of handling of our players and sponsors. The only thing that we must do is allow the Nearsports folks access to our league officials to offer thier photography services to the teams. At all District Tournaments and any District Supervised upper level tournament, the Nearsports photography services will have exclusive rights to that services with a portion of the sales to be donated to the tournament.

No league is obligated to purchase or use Nearsports services. But, are encouraged to lisen and consider using them as a District Sponsor.

 This agreement with Mr.Miller is a step forward for Youth Sports in this area and will promote Little League Baseball in general. Please support Near Sports and Mid America in bringing these games to the air.
