The Aquavikes took to the pool against Sullivan East and Sullivan Central on Monday, Dec. 14. The final scores were as follows:

Monday, December 7
Southwest Virginia Invitational
The 17th Annual Southwest Virginia Invitational was held on Saturday, December 12 at Radford University.
We had an excellent meet. The girls' team finished in 4th place and the boys' team came in 5th place.
Congratulations to Taylor Roswall. Her time in the 100 Backstroke placed her 4th in the THS All-Time Top 10 Times and her time in the 100 Butterfly placed her in 8th place on that same list.

Congratulations to McKenzie Killian, Melissa Dunaway, and Jeremiah Pickard for breaking into the top 10 meters times with swims at Emory & Henry and the East Tennessee Classic.

Friday, November 27
21st Annual East Tennessee Classic
The 2009 East Tennessee Classic was held at Dobyns-Bennett High School on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5. The Aquavikes finished in 3rd place in both the boys and girls competitions.

Saturday, November 28
THS vs. Patrick Henry High School
The Tennessee High swim team defeated Patrick Henry High School in a meet held at Emory & Henry College. The final scores were as follows:
Boys THS - 131 PHHS - 15
Girls THS - 120 PHHS - 37
Combined THS - 251 PHHS - 52
Senior Melissa Dunaway led the way for the lady Vikings by winning 2 events and swimming a state qualifying time in the 400 meter Freestyle. Taylor Roswall was also a double winner. Tiffany Hove and McKenzie Killian also picked up wins for the Vikes. McKenzie finished in 2nd place in the 100 Freestyle, but earned her state qualifying time in the effort.
Senior Greg Hanson was a double-winner for the men’s team. Bryce McFerrin also won two events and Mark Hollyfield, Jeremiah Pickard, Hunter Carrier, and Russell Jones were victorious in one event each.

Thursday, November 19
THS vs. Sullivan South
The Aquavikes split their dual meet against Sullivan South. Congratulations to Mark Hollyfield, Melissa Dunaway, and Taylor Roswall for making new state qualifying times. Mark qualified in the 50 Freestyle, Melissa in the 100 Butterfly, and Taylor in the 100 Freestyle.

THS vs. Greeneville vs. Elizabethton
The Aquavikes defeated Greeneville and Elizabethton in a tri-meet held in the Viking Hall pool.
Individual winners were William Pedziwol, McKenzie Killian, Maria Heller, Mark Hollyfield, Jeremiah Pickard, Taylor Roswall, Greg Hanson, and Savanah Caldwell. Congratulations to Jeremiah Pickard for making his state qualifying times in the 100 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle.

THS vs. Science Hill
The Aquavikes swam against Science Hill on Monday, November 3. Science Hill defeated the Vikings in both the boys and girls. Congatulations to McKenzie Killian and Taylor Roswall. Both swam state qualifying times in their events.

26 (Monday) - Maroon & White Meet (Home) - The meet will begin at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 5:15.
November
3 (Tuesday) - Science Hill (Home) - The meet will begin at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:45. Swimmers should report to the pool by 4:30. 8th grade swimmers will be allowed to swim exhibition in this meet.
10 (Tuesday) - Elizabethton and Greeneville (Home) - The meet will begin at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:45. Swimmers should report to the pool by 4:30. 8th grade swimmers will be allowed to swim exhibition in this meet.
19 (Thursday) - Sullivan South (Away) - The meet will begin at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:45. Swimmers should report to the pool by 3:45.

7 (Thursday) - Big 6's Meet (Home) - The meet will begin at 5:30. The teams involved in the meet will be Tennessee High, Dobyns-Bennett, Science Hill, Sullivan South, Marion, and Morristown.
9 (Saturday) - Pulaski County High School (Home) - The meet will begin at 10:30 AM. Warm-ups are scheduled for 9:30. Swimmers should report to the pool by 9:15.
12 (Tuesday) -Virginia High (Home) - The meet will begin at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:45. Swimmers should report to the pool by 4:30.
14 (Thursday) - Dobyns-Bennett and Virginia High (Home) - The meet will begin at 5:30 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:15. Swimmers should report to the pool by 4:00.
18 (Monday) - Tazewell (Away) - The meet will start at 6:00 with warm-ups scheduled for 5:15. Swimmers should report to the pool immediately after school.
22-23 (Friday and Saturday) - NETS Regional Championship Meet - The meet start times and warm-up times will be announced at a later date.
28 (Thursday) - Last Chance Meet (Home) - This meet is for any swimmer who has not achieved their state qualifying time and is the next to last chance to make their state time. The meet will begin at 5:30 with warm-ups scheduled for 4:15.
30 (Saturday) - Smokey Mountain Invitational (Away - Carson Newman College) - The meet warm-up times and start times will be announced at a later date. This is the final opportunity for any swimmer to make their state time.
February
12-13 (Friday and Saturday) - Tennessee State High School Championship Meet - The meet will be held in Nashville this year. Information concerning start times will be announced at a later date.

Parking at THS for swimmers and parents!
We're having some problems again with the parking situation during and after practices at Tennessee High...especially parents who are picking up their children after practice!
Parents, swimmers, and coaches MUST park in legal parking spaces at and around Tennessee High/Viking Hall. All areas painted in RED are fire lanes. The areas painted in YELLOW are no parking zones (several of those will soon be changed to RED). All of the parking spaces along the fence next to the track are reserved for the Tennessee High athletic busses. The police will begin ticketing and towing any vehicles that are parked in the fire zones.
THS would like to suggest two areas that you can park...
1. In the THS back parking lot. This would require that you cross Southside Ave.
2. On Edgemont Ave. in front of Viking Hall and the THS track. There are no streets to cross.
