The Appling County Pirates Varsity escape Tattnall County behind Connor Simmons's 20 strikeouts, 5-0

Connor Simmons threw a shutout to lift the Appling County Pirates Varsity to a 5-0 win over Tattnall County at Baxley in seven innings.

Connor racked up 20 strikeouts in the the Appling County Pirates Varsity win. The Appling County Pirates Varsity's pitcher gave up just three hits over seven shutout innings.

Triston Carter had two extra-base hits for the Appling County Pirates Varsity. He doubled in the first and third innings.

Blake Durrence was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 5 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out eight, and allowed five runs.

The Appling County Pirates Varsity went up for good in the first, scoring one run on an RBI double by Triston.

The Appling County Pirates Varsity scored two runs in the second inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the second, the Appling County Pirates Varsity scored on an error, scoring Mason Parker.

Everything was working at the plate for the the Appling County Pirates Varsity in the fifth. In the inning the Appling County Pirates Varsity scored four runs. Dawson Dyal took the loss for Bacon County. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs. The Appling County Pirates Varsity tacked on another two runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored Mason Parker for the inning's first run.

A two-run single by Gage Patton helps the Appling County Pirates Varsity take down Bacon County 5-1

A single, bringing home Will Shumans and Dylan Crosby gave the Appling County Pirates Varsity the lead in the seventh inning, and the Appling County Pirates Varsity hung on to beat Bacon County 5-1 on Wednesday.

Jake Britt had a hot bat for the Appling County Pirates Varsity. Jake went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.

Connor Simmons looked sharp on the mound. Connor held Bacon County hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six.

Dawson Dyal couldn't get it done on the rubber for Bacon County, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
