Sometimes in life, how we handle adversity determines our level of success. Saturday, Sim sala bim traveled to King of Prussia Pa. in preperation for a tournament on Sunday. As the hotel welcomed the parents with open arms, they quickly discovered there were no rooms for the team. (not our error) A frantic call to Doyle (no help), Doyle negotiating with the Hotel, (less help) set up a rough start. Help from parents got everyone a place to sleep although it took a couple of hotels and some players bunking with their parents.
Sunday started not much better, walking into a dark, dirty, and unusual gym, once again things seemed dismal. However; Simsalabim prevailed going undefeated in pool play. Their report after sweeping pool play. "We destoyed our quaterfinal opponent at 25-11 and cruised through the semi's unscathed". Apex faced a strong seasoned opponent in CAVA for the Gold. "Going into the finals, we were extremely underestimated. Going to 31-29, (winning the first set) we shocked the fans and the opposing team after fighting back after six ties. Although we lost the second set, we weren't going down without a fight. With the third game going to 15, we knew we had to be the first to 8, and that's just what we did. They came back fighting and the score was 13-12, us. Coach's timeout allowed us to catch a breath and refocus. We sided out (for match point) and Mikala's ace brought us to victory. It was a hard fought win and a great end to this weekend ! "

Our focus is the athletic and personal development of our student-athletes. We strive to create a safe, positive, and effective learning environment where student-athletes and coaches alike work to achieve individual excellence within a team dynamic. The Apex Volleyball program views the volleyball court as a classroom, where we develop the skills, character, and passion necessary to excel at volleyball and life. We emphasize, encourage and support the discipline, respect, responsibility, accountability, commitment, leadership, and work ethic necessary to build a true team. In conjunction with specific volleyball skills development we emphasize and teach the importance of proper nutrition, rest, fitness and healthy lifestyle choices. Apex offers a multitude of opportunities for player development and provides for the continued growth of volleyball in our region. Apex offers girls and boys the opportunity to participate and develop in our sport.
Apex Volleyball actively contributes to the betterment of the community through philanthropic work and participation in civic activities. Opportunities for our student-athletes to pass on their training to others and annual service initiatives are important elements of our program. Teamwork, integrity, communication, the importance of sacrifice and sportsmanship are key elements in what we see as the process of learning a sport for a lifetime. We welcome any and all to join us in this volleyball journey to joy.
