ANSLL American Majors suffer tough loss.
The ANSLL American 11-12 team suffered a tough loss at the hands of
Chantilly (National) on Thursday at Pine Ridge.

Top of first, things started rough for ANSLL with errors on first two
batters put men on 2nd and 3rd.  But the ANSLL defense stepped up.
Shortstop Ryan Rossum fielded a grounder and threw the runner out at home,
and then the cleanup hitter launched a deep fly to center, but Ryan Kane
snagged it and threw out the runner trying to advance to third to end the
first scoreless.

Chantilly pushed across 2 runs in the 2nd even though Jackson Boehman
recorded 3 K's.  After ANSLL went quietly again in the 2nd, Chantilly
countered with a 2 run homer before Boehman settled down and again retired
the side, but ANSLL trailed 4-0.

In the home half of the 3rd, 1bman Kerry Reed blasted a 2 out homer to put
ANSLL on the board, but still trailed 4-1.

In the 4th, things went bad for ANSLL.  After a base hit and 2 bb's, the
same Chantilly slugger ripped a grandslam, and Chantilly led 8-1 before Ryan
Rossum K'd the final 2 hitters.  Ansll couldn't get the bats going, and
going into the final frame, it was still 8-1 Chantilly.

A 2 out hit by Chantilly scored another, but Andrew Santaniello nice throw
was cut and relayed by P Ryan Kane to get the final out.  ANSLL went to the
bottom of 6th trailing 9-1, but they didn't give up and finally got the bats
going.

After an single by Kane, Ryan Krogel drilled the first pitch over the rcf
fence for a 2-run dinger and it was 9-3. With one on and two out, Christian
Firaben roped a double to the lcf gap and then Jackson Boehman also ripped a
double and it was 9-5.  Slugger Kerry Reed hit a deep fly that landed in the
center fielders's glove on the warning track, and ANSLL came up short 9-5.
Both teams managed 8 hits, but the 2 big flies for 6 runs, by Chantilly were
enough.

On to Gainesville on Saturday for the ANSLL team.
