ANSLL 9-10 Americans finish in 3rd place in District 10
The ANSLL 9-10 Americans once again met the Chantilly Americans, who had defeated ANSLL in the first game of the tournament. ANSLL had worked their way all the way through the elimination bracket, by winning 5 straight to get back to a game away from the District 10 finals.

ANSLL took the field behind Tyler Pacak and things started bouncing bad from the start. 4 errors by ANSLL in the first led to 3 Chantilly runs. ANSLL got one on the board in the first when Nolan Gilbert doubled to left and Luke Lundy singled him home. In the second, Tyler sent them down on 4 pitches topped off by Joe Darcy's spectacular diving catch at third and then doubled up a runner at first when Joe popped up and fired a bullet to first to end the inning. Tyler led off the inning with a single and Noah Smith, who had pinch ran for Tyler, advanced to second on a bobbled grounder. Shawn Courtney hit a fly ball to right then Noah got himself in and then out of a pickle and ended up on third and Kyle Peich got Noah across on a fielders choice. After 2 it was 3-2.

Chantilly got things rolling in the third and Jack Owens was brought in to relieve Tyler. Chantilly put up 4 runs in the fourth and ANSLL came to bat down 7-2. Nolan and Joe led off the inning with singles and Nolan scored on a fielders choice of Evan Eschenburg. The fourth inning Jack shut down Chantilly but ANSLL was unable to produce in their half of the fourth.

In the fifth Chantilly was able to put up 4 more runs. ANSLL fought back with 4 singles in a row by Jack, Nolan, Joe and Luke that generated some runs, a walk to Tyler and then Steven Schwartz got the ball in play to plate Chris Calbi as the third run. Shawn Courtney hit a grounder to the right side but was called out on a highly disputed call at first that killed the bases loaded rally. 11-6 after 5.

Chantilly again capitalized on errors and was able to string hits together to put up 6 more runs. ANSLL couldn't generate anything in the 6th. Overall ANSLL couldn't overcome 7 errors and finished as the third place team in District 10.

The ANSLL 9-10 Americans made an spectacular run in the District 10 tournament posting a 5-2 record. During that run every player contributed to each of those wins. The parents were charged up, the kids had a great time playing, the coaches couldn't ask for a better group, the help at practices was awesome and the ANSLL fans were a real treat.

The third place finish was as deep a run in the tournament that anyone can remember from an ANSLL team. The kids worked hard to get where they were and everyone within ANSLL is very proud of their performance.
