ANSLL 9-10 Americans steamroll past Coles
The 9-10 Americans delayed by a day of rain did not allow the weather to slow their progress. ANSLL took the field in the first behind Steven Schwartz and held Coles to 0 runs after their lead off batter got a single and worked his way to third but was unable to score due to some fine defensive plays . ANSLL came to the plate facing some hard pitching but was unfazed. Jack Owens led off with a double and Joe Darcy plated him with a single to put ANSLL up 1-0.
Steven got out of the 2nd on 5 pitches. ANSLL was able to put up some runs in the 2nd when Steven drew a walk then Shawn Courtney got on and advanced Steven then Jack was able to load the bases. Joe Darcy came through with a 2 strike double that cleared the bases. Luke Lundy then scored Joe on a double of his own to put ANSLL up 5-0 after 2 innings.
Steven kept the door closed on Coles in the 3rd, then ANSLL was able to generate runs on a walk by Tyler Pacak and and a few passed balls advanced the runner. Kyle Peich beat out an infield single and scored Noah Smith who had pinch ran for Tyler. Jack then plated Kyle on a double. ANSLL was now up 7-0.
Tyler Pacak took to the mound in the fourth and shut down Coles on 7 pitches. Luke and Tyler were the first two baserunners of the fourth inning on walks and a clutch 2 RBI double by Doug Gressly made the score 9-0.
Nolan Gilbert came in to close out the inning and not to be outdone, shut down Coles on 7 pitches also. Jack Owens led off the inning with his fourth hit of the game and advanced to third on a passed ball then scored the 10th run on a passed ball.
ANSLL had ended the game due to the 10 run rule ahead 10-0.
ANSLL Americans (5-1) will face Chantilly at Chantilly, Friday night at 6:00.
