ANSLL 11-12 Nationals Take the Long Road To Coles
The ANSLL 11-12 National team first battled Interstate 95, arriving to play a tough Coles team. After sitting out a short rain delay, ANSLL took the field in top of the first and shut down Coles behind a solid start by Ryan Keck on the mound. ANSLL failed to score in their half of the first despite a hit by Joe Carns, and then the Coles Shortstop hit a solo home run to center in the top of the second. ANSLL stranded a runner in the second after Caleb O'Neil single. Coles scored 6 runs in the third to take a 7-0 lead, 4 runs scoring on a grand slam that just cleared the fence in center field.
In the bottom of the third, ANSLL battled back. Joey Coogan got things started with a hit up the middle, followed by a long double to center by Ryan Keck.
Joe Carns then drove Joey home, and moved Ryan to third with a groundout. Ryan then scored, making the score 7-2 after 3 innings.
Joey Coogan took the hill in the top of the 4th and yielded two runs.
Jake Glasscock pitched the 5th, giving up one run, and then ANSLL got one back in the bottom of the inning on a Jake Glasscock double scoring Ryan Keck.
In the 6th, Paul Leonard was summoned to pitch. ANSLL's defense wilted in the heat, as they were unable to make the plays to get out of the inning, and Coles racked up 9 unearned runs. ANSLL was retired in the 6th, final score 19-3. Other than the last inning, ANSLL played fairly well, hit a number of balls hard and battled hard to keep in the game.
