News: ANSLL 9-10 American fall to Chantilly

ANSLL 9-10 American fall to Chantilly
ANSLL's American league traveled to Chantilly Saturday and began their tournament season as the home team. Tyler Pacak was on the hill and faced a very tough team in Chantilly. Chantilly came out strong in the top of the first with back to back doubles and then a fielder choice plated another run. Tyler held strong and was able to pitch out of the jam and ANSLL came to bat trailing 2-0. The Americans were unable to get Nolan Gilbert around following his double but then held strong in the second with a 3 up 3 down inning. ANSLL again left a runner in scoring position after Evan Eschenburg singled and stole second.

The third inning Chantilly came out strong and Nolan provided some relief to Tyler and ANSLL was able to hold Chantilly to 3 runs. Bottom of the fouth inning was when ANSLL got going sparked by Luke Lundy who led off the inning with a shot to right that one hopped over the fence for a ground rule double. Evan followed with single then Chris Calbi worked the count for a walk and Shawn Courtney and Jack Owens each had an RBI. ANSLL had batted around for the inning but left the bases loaded. They were able to bring it to 5-3 after 4.

Chantilly came back with 2 in their half and ANSLL again loaded the bases but was unable to push a run across in the fifth. 7-3 after 5. Chantilly kept the pressure on by scoring 5 in the 6th and Nolan led off the inning with a single but ANSLL was only able to produce one run in their half.
